I totally agree with you. As a now retired campground owner, I repeatedly stressed to my staff and even my family that sometimes it's not what you say but how you say out that makes the difference. One incident that comes to mind was when my high school age daughter dealt with a difficult customer in the friendliest way and was able to resolve the situation. When I saw her a bit later in our home she told me she wanted to scream but she remembered what I told her. I was so proud of her for remaining so polite and that customer returned many times after that. I guess they were just having a rough day.

I've dreamt of owning a campground for many years. I often go over in my head how I would handle customer service, and you are spot on with your comments on how someone greets you. "Welcome. How was your trip? What can we do to make your stay here an exceptional experience?" Not over the top, fake, enthusiasm but instead genuine hospitality. It cost owners nothing yet gains a positive stay.
@lonab3244 ай бұрын
For me, a positive greeting upon arrival is important, especially after a long travel day. We recently stayed at a rather pricey WI rv park. The park in general was fantastic-no complaints with anything-EXCEPT the check in process. The employee who came to the desk gave no greeting, went straight to asking for our name, completed the check in and handed me the receipt and paperwork, told me we’d take ourselves to the site, and walked away. How difficult is it to be welcoming and show appreciation for our business?

We stayed at a campground in Stoner (Delores) Colorado where customer service was just the opposite. Asked our first names introduced himself, shook hands, then a few hours later knocked on our door with a welcome package that included cookies, coffee, and fresh eggs. Campground itself the sites are close, especially backing up to the creek; however, each campsite had a grill with propane, a wood loveseat, a fire pit with wood stacked up for your use, and a propane lantern. The showers are clean, and the owner provides free laundromat. No pool. Dogs welcome. Every weekend they have music. And yes, with the name smoking is permitted on your site but not around children or those (I assumed) we’re restricted from being around it. I would recommend to anyone passing through.

My wife and I watched this review with great interest . Apparently not much has changed at this campground in the past 25 years. We stayed there once with our family and decided to never go back. Our stay was so odd and bad that we still referred to it when rating other campgrounds, as in "it is not as bad as Indian Rock was". By the way the water connection at our site broke off completely as we were getting ready to leave and water was spraying everywhere.

I’ve been camping for over 60 years I bought my first RV 55 years ago I’ve had 31 since then! In 1987 on our honeymoon in Canada, we stopped at a campground at Prince Edward Island. As soon as we drove up it looked like the backwoods of Alabama campers with tarps on them cars up on blocks and logs, the office look very nice I like have an office but there was trash on the front porch we were inside there were people smoking it was disgusting. How can we help you? I said well I’m gonna stand out here on the porch because I don’t want to die of asphyxiation, I looked at my wife she looked at me. He says we’re out of here. We drove down the road about 20 miles. Find another campground. Very nice now current day are used to camp in Vermont Newfane, Vermont to be exact. There’s a campground there call Kenolie campground when the father and mother Ranett it was pristine. Everything was so well-maintained then as is the case, the parents have the children come in campground goes to hell and there is nothing there, but people that live in camp first that the owner owns and sells them to the poor indigent people at state aid, and when they can’t afford the rent he takes the camper. They’re homeless and the cycle continues, the rudest most arrogant owners worse than your experience worse and the campers nothing but a bunch of drunks drug dealers and let’s throw some prostitutes in there as well. Now let’s talk about the owner son got arrested for raping girls there that’s when I decided that’s it. We are done. If ever you come up to Vermont check it out it’s north of Brattleboro.

We can relate to your experience. Maintenance is key and usually relates to management. Further, a pet peeve of mine is when the campground uses the word resort in their name. Most times the campground is anything but a resort. After leaving NIRVC we stayed at a nice campground near Chattanooga but upon check in, the lady didn't hesitate to tell us that if we didn't obey the rules, we would be evicted. What? I'd never heard such a "threat" at a campground before. Fortunately it was just that person, other workers were very pleasant. You are so right about how you say it rather than what you say.

Perception makes all the difference. In Real Estate sales, a small kitchen is described as, "So conveniently appointed, you can cook an entire meal without moving your feet." A run down house is excused when you say, "This home is owned by a young couple with children, and sometimes they have to prioritize their time for the kids." Always find the positive in everything.

We stayed there about 10 years ago and this review is pretty accurate. We heard while we were that that it used to a great clean well taken care of campground when her dad ran it but has gone down hill since she took over. Not to mention she stuck us in THE most awkward spot just inside the security gate (we had a 32 ft 5th wheel). Luckily my hubby is a good driver and a couple of guys from the site next us helped guide us in (a lot of going forward, going backward, forward, backward to inch ourselves in). We were meeting up with my in-laws at the front gate one day to head out to an activity and the owner wanted to charge my mother in-law $20 just to come to see if we were almost ready to go!! She wasn't staying just wanted to see how much longer we would be. I would not stay there again either but if you are still in there area check out the campbell soup company museum, we saw it driving by but didn't have time to check it out. There is (or was) an AMAZING pizza place nearby I think it was called Enzio's or something like that? I think it began with an E.

I have traveled East many times (New Jersey, New York, etc) and found that many people seemed rude in general. After several observations, I decided to ask a person from New York why the amount of rude behavior seems to be fairly normal in these particular areas (asking in a polite way) and the answer is simple from their perspective - lots of people from all backgrounds of life just trying to make it through from daily struggles of life. This made sense and the diversity creates a lot of people to be short with others due to fast paced conditions. But here’s what else was mentioned. This person said it isn’t personal nor should it be taken as offensive. It’s simply a way of life with how it is and has been almost since the beginning of the established communities and big city environment that exists in the North East. Basically, just take it as normal behavior and don’t be offended by the demeanor of how and when people say something. After a while, I began to understand what this New Yorker said and now I see it in how it was expressed. In this review, don’t take anything said at the campground or written on the rules page as offensive. It is nothing personal and just go on with your day. The North East is not middle America with normal politeness as we typically see.

I worked for a KOA for a season and let me tell you, YOU ARE NOT A KAREN. The location I worked at was central to great locations and the highway and it was still semi-rural. The camp itself, upon pulling in, is beautiful... but then the little things start and then the big things. And then the prices go up without anything being fixed. It seems most RV parks or campgrounds like KOA or Jellystone aren't in the business for the love of camping and sharing it, they are strictly in it for money. It's sad. The smaller campgrounds that don't have the amenities that the larger parks do care much more about the people that stay there and the grounds, at least in my camping experiences and working experiences in the field (more than just KOA).

When I visit Six Flags Great Adventure - the campground I have stayed at in the past, and had a really great stay is Timberland Lake Campground - which is the closest campground to Six Flags Great Adventure - literally just 3 miles from Six Flags Great Adventure. The staff is great - the campground is great. If you have kids - the campground is very kid friendly - with lots of activities for the kids! The only thing - is this campground is very popular - and gets book up - fast! So - if you are thinking of going - make sure you make reservations! -- also - on the plus side - I use Travlfi for my internet - which hooks up to any of the 3 major services with the closest signal - and I never had an issue with getting cell service with Travlfi while at Timberland Lake. I did stay once at the campground you guys are reviewing - Indian Rock RV Park and Campground. Indian Rock was an 'ok' campground - but, to me, it wasn't as nice or as friendly and kept up as Timberland Lake! And - with Travelfi - I did have some issues staying connected - so, I do agree - the cell service there isn't all that great. So - next time in the area - or for anyone looking in the Jackson NJ area to camp - give Timberland Lake Campground a try!!

Oh my gosh!!! I just watched your video "Trigger Warning: This Video Is Brutally Honest and Unfiltered!" where someone criticized you for walking like you're connected at the hip!! I'm laughing my head off because it DOES look like you're connected at the hip in this video!! You guys, are great (even if you're from New Jersey!). Are you from New Jersey??

Yes from Jersey

Love the channel.. love the LU gear as well! My wife and I are getting Doctorates there (well she just finished, and I'm a couple months from finishing). We also have a daughter that is a senior and in marching band. If you're ever at a game would love to say hi.. we're planning on hitting a couple at least this season. ;)

I agree with you, to high price and broken picnic tables at site's not acceptable it could be a well groomed place with alittle effort, and general maintenance, maybe some landscaping of flowers, one good thing is Level site's, that's what we look for, with our 36ft class A. Easy Leveling 😊, thank you for your honest review. GOD BLESS YOU IN ALL YOUR TRAVELS 😊❤

I agree with you. I just went to one that we had to make a late day reservation for in Show Low, AZ. It appeared the campsites were mostly long term residents and they make most of their money from one night stays. It was a pretty campground in the forest. Camping spaces sandwiched like fish packed in a tin can. Electric only and no restroom anywhere. No picnic table and nothing else but a fairly level gravel area to park. The lack of a picnic table and lack of a restroom was a deal breaker for ever returning to this particular campground. I can be happy without a lot of things and return to a place as long as it has a picnic table, the lack of a restroom was a big problem for my guest. And that, no picnic table and no one there to get any help from, cost $75 for one night.. The campground in Waddell,AZ we stayed at two nights before was a county campground and had a nice picnic table, fire ring and a bathroom close enough to be convenient. Our stay was late July so it was hot in the county campground. One I'll go to in cooler weather for sure.

NJ minimum wage is over $15/hr. Going to cost at least 3x that much to get skilled laborer (maintenance personnel). Looks like owner couldn't get the desk help to show up to take care of Guests. They were probably off playing on their phones somewhere. The Owners are getting really tired, paying the help, and then having to do their job too. 😢

The same here. Just really windy here in Nevada.

The check-in story is hilarious! Charging extra for "more people" is ridiculous.

I can’t imagine how they can justify charging those rates and especially nine dollars for an extra person. Great review.

I thought the park we live in was bad about nickel and diming every single thing That place sounds like this park It could be an awesome spot if it were well maintained and staffed well Our current manager here is awesome She's super nice and very helpful if there are any issues

Sounds expensive, esp. considering it looks pretty run down. Having a rule telling campers not to take anything from empty sites is OK though these days, we had a staked down yard mat and a water hose stolen from our campsite this year when we took our dog to the vet.

I love inexpensive campgrounds, good Sam and KOA, although we are just staying for one night and moving on unless something goes awry.

Karen & Ken - and nope, I don't feel yall being Karens. but it definitely makes me glad I have ONLY ever stayed at Fla State Parks. Dad who travels with 3 kids and a dog, not happy about charging for over 2 guests. ESPECIALLY kids!!
