The thing I find hysterical about this song is that the computer is really reflecting our own psychosis back at us. If you think about it there are two simultaneous Christmases happening every year. The religious celebration and the commercial one. If you take all the various Christmas songs and compile them together you'd pretty much get this exact monstrosity. If we don't all share one definition of "Christmas" then how the hell is the computer supposed to understand? I think it would be interesting to see the neural networks do a religious song using only religious source material and a commercial one using only commercial source material.

Mostly what happens when you feed Christmas songs into a neural net is that you're giving it half "happy Santa" type songs about merriment and half the more traditional church-oriented "birth of jesus/sins of mankind" songs about the holy infant and his sacrifice and etc, and while we as people instinctively know to separate the two types by theme, the AI does not, so it just uses parts of both together. And honestly it's just delightful.
