I rewatch it every year it's hilarious. I decided to ask my mom about it: "hey mom, where did you find out about this movie?" and she just responded "all the parents (of my elementary school class) had this movie." My sister rewatched it with me one year and when they walked into Queen Camilla's palace my sister said "oh my god I remember this I think I was sort of creeped out?" lol. Also random tidbit is I have it on VHS with captions and it says something about Queen Camilla sounding like Sza Sza Gabor

Wow this crazy i haven't seen Rudolph The Red Nosed Reindeer and the Island of Misfit Toys in like 20 years or almost 20 years since i was kid , i knew this existed but at the same time i always thought this special was a fever dream from the deepest corner of my mind 😂😅

7:00 I mean, one of my cats threw a tuna cake across my kitchen once. He just picked it up in his mouth and threw it. I didn't know cats had that power. So maybe she did that? But in that case I had already made the tuna cake (it was for Stormageddon's second birthday, and Stormageddon just turned his nose up at it, but I guess Tristan was deeply offended by my culinary efforts.) Not sure how the reindeer could have made a snowball tightly packed enough for her reindeer mouth to pick it up and throw it.

The animation is so odd. 😂 I've never heard of this until now, but thanks I guess? Lol If you want to watch a better 90s animated Christmas film about animals, then I recommend Annabelle's Wish. It makes me cry every year.

There was another Rankin Bass Rudolph from the 90s/2000s (this one 2D animated) that starred John Goodman and Whoopi Goldberg that was equally as bad. Apparently the reason the casts were so stacked in these movies was because they focused the majority of the budget on hiring big names and neglected the animation hoping the big names would bring them enough attention/success. 😂

Who flies a blimp when it's snowing? I always thought that that was incredibly risky due to icing. I understand the whole "suspension of disbelief" when it comes to cartoons, but...

I forgot there was a CGI direct to video sequel to this. One of the last appearances of Rick Moranis. I still have some plush Rudolph toys from CVS but I actually think they were to tie in with this film not the original.

Its been a long time since I have seen this special. Also, Anton mentions that Rudolph sounds like Ash Ketchum and there is actually some interesting history to that. The Rudolph in the original cartoon wound be the inspiration for Veronica Taylors performance as Ash. The actress who plays Rudolph in this film, Kathleen Barr who has a long resume of her own, played an Ash Ketchum expy in an episode of Johnny Test.

No comparison to the classic 1964 original. I ordered this on vhs at the time before dvd. I kept trying to compare it to the original. I give the original Rudolph an A out of A, B, C, D and F. This gets a D. Young kids who didnt see the original would probably love this.

Oh yeah this was not shown in the livestream because they didn't like that shown so it gets it's own vid, cool. Happy New Years so at the time on commenting, it is Dec 31 in down under and just reached H2O: Just Add Water S2 after completing S1 which was pretty good.

I remember watching this a few times and while it’s certainly not good, I preferred over the other Rudolph movie that has no connection to the Rankin Bass special. Though the only connection is that Rudolph has the same voice actress in both of these movies.

I know it’s not technically Christmas- or New Year’s related, but- the movie Superbabies Baby Geniuses 2, lives rent free in my head and I need somebody else to validate me if that was real or not. It’s the same guy who directed A Christmas Story- and released in 2004. So, let me know if that helps.

They aged down Rudolph in this special. So it's not canon to the story. I sort of disagree with the thing about the voices. They kinda sound like the original voices, but it's not close enough. There was an attempt.

i think you're thinking of the 90s 2d animated rudolph movie, which was oddly produced by the same company and also had kathleen barr voicing rudolph, but had nothing to do with the rankin bass movie
