This poem is from his newest book "I'll fly away" in which he creates lots of new words which have meanings we don't have definitions for yet and defines them with poems that are both memorable and lyrical.

“I wish that my arms were 12 years long” gets me every time….I’m turning 29 this year. I’ve been thinking a lot about how much I needed to hear this at 17. This is a part of a playlist called “before bed” that I try to listen to daily/// it fills me with so much joy and fulfillment. Please Rudy never stop writing as long as it brings you joy.

Thank you, this is exactly what i just needed. Im almost 25, but at a huge milestone, and i felt when he said "your story starts very slowly, but it gets better" and "ignore the washing machine in your stomach". Im just about to leave my own country to stay with my man, i have my ticket and i have to file in my notice for quitting at work in about 2 weeks, and its still right in the middle of the pandemic so borders are not that open, and i pray that i will be able to fly with that plane and get to him! We have been waiting for almost 2 years now, and it is now or never. So even though im terrified and people are worried and negative and everything, i have to ignore the washing machine in my stomach and believe that it gets better and we can actually do this coz things will go right!

Of all the Button Poetry i've watched and been moved by, this takes second place behind the very first and to this day, the one that floors me every time; Sabrina's 'depression, a conversation...' because both ring true to the very core of who and what i have been and both resonate with who i am now, thanks to my interesting, challenging but ultimately grateful and peaceful journey that i continue to navigate with a strong heart and forgiving mindset that beautiful & powerful side notes like these videos hand me along the way. May all of you feeling a struggle of your own find a poem, a song, a friend...to help you on your way, one day at a time and one smile at a time. x
