Rudy Sarzo talks to Sally Steele about his escape from Cuba at 11 years - old. He also talks about the last conversation he had with Randy Rhoads before Randy's plane crashed and why Rudy did not get on the plane when Randy asked him to go along. Rudy also talks about why Ozzy Osbourne punched him in the face! A true rock history lesson told by the amazing Rudy Sarzo! #quietriot #DIO #ronniejamesdio #ozzyosbourne #randyrhoads

I wish they recorded The Speak Of The Devil CD album as they did the DVD video. I would of much rather preferred the set with the songs from the first 2 Ozzy albums and the 3 or 4 sabbath songs that are on the DVD concert. I guess there was legal issues as to why they couldn’t use the Ozzy songs just Sabbath songs.

Ozzy also punched Randy about 2 weeks before he died. Randy hated touring, he supposedly had one more album under contract he had to record with Ozzy but he didn't want to tour any more, Rudy even talks about it in his book that Randy would have most likely kept recording with Ozzy but not going on the road anymore. Randy was not a big partier and wasn't all into the whole rock scene which is surprising to a lot of people but it's true, he wanted to experiment with other styles of music and said he didn't want to be stuck just playing heavy metal. Randy just wanted to teach that was like his dream. But yeah Ozzy punched Randy because Ozzy found out Randy wanted to stop touring after the Diary tour and go back to USC and get his degree and that his mother had already made arrangements for that and Ozzy found out and punched him, yet he talks about how much he loved Randy.

Interesting that this came on after watching Dan cover the plane crash on taking off. Also from nj and I grew up not too far from west ny. But born in 82. Love rock and roll. My uncle was a lighting director for BML lighting back in the 80s. Toured with GNR, Steven Tyler, Cindy Lauper and much more. Man he has some crazy stories. Always love hearing them. That plane incident is a shame. Plane was out of annual, Randy had not flown in while nor was his medical valid. And certainly never a good idea to fly a plane on cocaine or any substance. I don’t think it was intentional personally. Although I don’t know much about this incident, when you bank an airplane you have to increase lift by pulling back on the yoke to maintain the same altitude. The more you bank the more you have to pull back. This increases exponentially as the bank angle increases. I believe he was banked too steep and was loosing altitude and did not intend to crash as some speculation says.

I saw a band picture on the advertisement and Rudy was nkit there. So I text the band website and ask where is Rudy? They told me that he moved on to put his old band back together. So I did not buy a ticket. I may have still bought a ticket if Burton Cummings was singing with them but we all know that is not to be in small theatre's these guys were playing in.

@monmixer I saw the line-up with Rudy. He was awesome as always. But I just don't like the band without Burton Cummings and more of the original members which is now just the drummer. A very long strange history QR has. From Delores Rhoads' kitchen to 2023. Seems bizarre how someone who now owns the name really didn't have much to do with the legacy of the band at all. Very strange indeed, I can remember reading one of Frankie Banali s interviews where he was asked if QR will continue and if he sees Qr continuing without him where he responded No Qr will not continue. Apparently that changed somewhere down the the line. Best of wishes and good luck to all. 😊

Crazy how little things create this butterfly effect- Rachael had a heart condition which caused the pilot to say he wouldn’t do the stunts he previously did, which Randy heard and believed and so he said he’d like to get on. If she didn’t have a heart condition, Randy probably wouldn’t have gotten on the plane (but who knows). And of course, millions of other little factors leading to that final tragedy

I heard Randy had to fly to England from LA the first time to meet Ozzy, but there was a problem there with his visa so he had to fly all the way back to LA, then the next day, fly again back to England. And I think he may have been sick the whole time. Pretty bad first flight ever for someone who doesn't even like flying. So Ozzy punched Randy, and Rudy. I didn't know he punched Rudy.

The truth had Rudy really wanted to tell you was yes Ozzy struck Rudy but not at that festival .And he wasn't the only one Ozzy assaulted. Ozzy punched Randy Rhoads in the face after randy told Ozzy he was gonna leave the band to go to UCLA to get a degree in Classical music. This was witnessed by Tommy Aldridge and has been told in several interviews Tommy gave over the years

@@SallySteele Your Welcome and thank you Sally for the content . I grew up in the late 70s and early 80s in Orlando florida and rock and roll was my religion back then .I must have went to over 100 concerts in just my teens let alone countless shows all through my 20s and 30s . Randy Rhoads was my biggest inspiration of all .I saw Ozzy on the Diary of a Madman tour with Randy . Rudy and Tommy Aldridge lineup . Randy had this unbelievable strong stage presene . seriously just uncomprahendable .couldn't take your eyes off of him .I love wat your doing to keep our Rock heroes alive and relevant in a era that to be honest with you has no real music and musicians like our generation had . Again thanks so much and keep the content coming.

God those were tough questions. Great questions, but tough. You have to be cool enough to not say Fuck this, this is too heavy. Rudy was cool enough to answer them. Other rock stars wouldn't have been cool enough. It's all about cool.

Ozzy head butted Don Costa and broke his nose at the US festival. The person who has the most information about the crash is Don Airey, it s him amd Jake Duncan who convinced the pilot to scare Randy and the ones who taunted Randy to get on the plane and get low enough to take a frontal photo, sort of like when you go to disneyland and they take a photo of you while youre on the roller coaster. I cant imagine the discomfort Rudy has when asked about the accident , God Bless.

Howd you get this official information? every story they have is different each time about the crash. (generally close, but not all adding up 100%). I wouldn't be surprised if this was real though.

@@dragoncitydemo9799 Yeah I found a few articles about it. Don Airey had to apparently go through tons of therapy for that, and I could understand why. As for the questions about this coming up with Rudy, you can definitely feel the unnerve and discomfort Rudy had during that question. Feel sorry for them all.
