The most life changing thing I heard that positively affects my playing to this day is this saying I heard, the notes you DONT play are just important as the notes you do play, and knowing when to take advantage of rhythm and spacing will add a completely new dimension to your playing. I personally treat every single note like percussion as if im playing drums or something

I get shit on by “real musicians” thats study theory and know more than me all the time but when I jam with them, two things become clear: 1. they usually cant improv and still suck at their instruments, have no creativity or personal style, keep stopping to TALK about friggen MUSIC. 2. they start treating me entirely different because I play my style really well regardless of not knowing a ton of theory. Improvising is one of the most important skills you could ever learn. Music is supposed to be fun and engaging!
@StefanJordan-kb4ck

It is a drag how guitar based music is approached by so many as a competition when to make music with others requires cooperation. Let alone that what sounds good is very subjective, which is why there are different styles and genres. Music is fun, not everyone can be a virtuoso, but the idea that you have to be one to have a good time making music is rather off putting.

As much as it's nice to improve your impromptu, this lesson is mostly great for causing a nice deep REM sleep, so before checking the full course be aware that it may cause a coma from which you might never wake up. Stay safe, people 🙏

Im at a place where am really happy with my improvising, but spent years and years playing the same licks and hitting bum notes while learning intervals to get there. The mental aspect is under-rated.. a lot of times I would find myself with some friends having a jam and suddenly you realise you know shit. THAT to me is when you really get honest with yourself and start working towards pleasing the listener instead of just yourself. Be brutally honest with yourself, for instance all my playing lacks any rhythm. But when I dig deep slow down a bit and really clear my head - the rhythm really comes back. So everytime I want to go ham now, I really really think about whether it is the moment.

I've been a guitar teacher for almost 3 decades. Only thing I'll say on the negative side is that it is already hard enough to get students to try improvising when they're afraid they are going to sound bad and people will ridicule them. Only way to make that issue worse is to make a video asking the general public if they want to learn to stop sounding like clowns when they improvise. I see that you're trying to use comedy to make it more interesting but I'd stay away from saying things like that. I would almost guess that some people gave up on improvising as soon as they read your title. God sent us here to teach, not to lose students to giving up. Other than that, not bad content. Maybe using the word sequencing would have been good.
