She told her she only had morphine to shoot and stuck her so many times was to make it look like she shoots up. Laurie scares the ever loving shit out out me. She gave Rue the suitcase knowing she couldn’t/wouldn’t sell it so she would be indebted to her and have to pay it off with her body. She wanted Rue to fail.

I think when people say the show has "glamorized" drug abuse, they're referring to those artistic, glittery sequences where the characters are partying and having the time of their lives (and there's been quite a few of those throughout the series). It's refreshing that they're focusing more on the harsh realities of addiction this season though.

Rue is based off Levinson (the writer, director, creator of the show) and his battle with addiction in his teens and early twenties and he obviously overcame and is still here. But I could definitely see Rue dying. If she does it probably won’t be until the final episode of the series though.

I’ll be honest. I wasn’t too sure about this season. A lot of the episodes felt very disjointed and all over the place. However this episode helped restore my faith in the writers again. I’ve heard a lot of criticism about this show “glorifying drug use”. There was nothing pretty about the first twenty minutes. At times it felt difficult to watch. Rue literally burns the bridges of everyone close to her. Then the tone shifts into a funny game of cat-and-mouse before finishing off with the cold and calculating Laurie. 10/10 episode.

She was planning to drug up Rue unconscious to traffic her and make her money back. From the talk she gave, scratches behind the other closed door, parrots that react to every noise (noise mufflers), and her preparing morphine even before Rue gave her consent that was her plan all along. The only reason Rue got away was because she lied about how much she uses (probably didn't want Laurie to know how much of her suitcase drugs she used herself). Laurie didn't think that Rue would wake up from that dose of morphine so soon.
