i think all states with a ruff grouse population should manage more for them..small game species tend to get over looked..in my opinion this is the hardest species of game bird to hunt..you earn each & every 1 you harvest..they deserve more respect

I had one chase me 200 yards through logging slash. Would attack me if I turned my back, but also would let me touch it's back when it ran up to me. I was planting trees and it became a pain. It flew at my face once when I was removing some vegetation, I guess it considered that action a threat. It ran around pecking the ground making subdued chicken sounds. It mostly kept it's head down and would run after you that way but when it stood tall it was ready to fight. Crazy bird!

Very good job speaking, I live in saskatchewan and I go ruffed, Sharptail, and Spruce Grouse with Hungairian partridge hunting. But I like ruffed the most because it is a more bigger bird and has white meat, which is very good for eating

@auto_54 жыл бұрын
Much easier for them to hide in the summer. They blend in very well.

"Ruffed Grouse Basics" where I live (north central British Columbia) - shotgun and light trap loads - drive 10 minutes to a favourite grouse trail - get out and walk (take shotgun and shells) - see grouse - shoot grouse - repeat as necessary

Roddy, in the summer they are very hard to see in the spring and fall the leaves are just coming in and or gone. In the summer the leaves are everywhere and the birds don't come into the open.
