Thanks for the detailed tutorial. As a person newly back to sewing, I've forgotten so much, and am able to rely on your videos to get that muscle memory back. So many new ideas too. I thought that making a few pillows might be a good way to help me get back into it, when I discovered this great video. Thank you for this tutorial and pinning it down did work, I made two of these people for a friend and she loved them, and I just used muslin for the ruffles to make them old time looking!

I just tried your technique for ruffles, wow I wish I had known about this year ago. I don't have that foot but it still turned out great. I love it. The ruffle is perfectly spaced. Thank you so much for your tutorials. Kim

Ruffled pillows remind me of my home economic days :) ---not to mention i can't remember how long it's been since I've made a ruffled pillow! They are still just as beautiful. I love the idea of the long arm stitching on the pillow top and will have to give it that a try in the future. Thanks for the wonderful ideas.

Thanks for this tutorial, I didn't know there was a ruffling foot out there....a couple of months ago I did my first ruffled pillow, but did the ruffle by hand and then sewed it in by machine. I enjoyed it so much, much easier than I first thought. However, I am happy to learn your trick on the corners, since one of mine eventually got caught and I had to undo and restitch it twice.....

I have got to have one of those shirring feet! I have always made ruffles using the parallel lines of stitching and drawing up the bobbin thread to the correct size ruffle - a very tedious process to be sure. Learning so much from you. Thank you

Thank you for a wonderful tutorial. In the UK we call pillows cushions and pillows are what you lay your head on in bed. I have made lots of these cushions/pillows in the past but not as easily as you demonstrate and I will definitely use this method in the future. I love the idea of using a shirting foot too. Thank you so much for your fab ideas.

These are really lovely and the fabrics are so beautiful usually when I make a pillow I cut the fabric 1" smaller so if I had a 20" pillow pad I would cut my fabric 19" - 19" it makes it lovely and squishy

Hi Donna, your knowledge and skills are amazing. I have made many ruffled cushion covers, each one taking literally hours to pull up the ruffle after sewing a long stitch around the fabric and then attaching it in place.
