Me too! I got shelters with straw for the uncatchable cats in my area and feed the ferals twice daily. They are using the shelters, I'm glad to say, I raised them up on pallets to better insulate them. I rescued an adult cat about 3-4weeks ago now and he is asleep on my windowsill. I would have the outside ones if they let me near enough (despite having fed them for years) one has been in with me and a couple of cat loving neighbours and knows he is welcome but rarely stays more than a night with anyone. Its a concern but I do have contacts if any of the uncatchable ones needed veterinary care that I couldn't provide through meds in food etc., that would cage trap them. I don't want to scare them out of the garden though as I know they are well fed, sheltered and seen 2 x daily.

What happened to this cat parallels how society treats men. The late Thomas Wolfe wrote about it in his last novel, "You Can't Go Home Again," which dates all the way back to 1939, long before the Equal Rights Amendment came along. Women are hell bent on destroying men. Gender bias (favoring females) is rampant now. I'll end by saying you'll see a lot of homeless men who are in worse shape than "Rufus." It's a rare sight to see a homeless woman, though.

I adopted a senior girl last Xmas. She's curled up here on my shoulder purring loudly and holding my arm tightly to her chest. She'd had little human interaction but has adjusted. Now she can't get enough affection. I hope she has many years to go.

I took in a deaf feral starving turkish angora😢 and ninety percent of his hair was matted. All of the hair underneath was constantly being pulled and I can't imagine the pain. It took 2 days with nail scissors to get it all off and he was so relieved and so happy and just started running around like a kitten❤❤❤

He’s obviously aged and so standing probably because getting down may be painful for him due to Arthritis. My own Cat does this and he’s almost 20!

A friend adopted a nine year old ginger in February this year. Jack has had full extraction of all his teeth. He is now living in a huge house in Washington and gets on well with the incumbent ginger. My Girl, Ms Lily celebrated her 21st Birthday last week. I live in Australia. Rufus is the type of Cat I have always adopted. It is an honour and an incredible experience to adopt these amazing Cats who have spent most of their lives on the street. Kiss for you Rufus. My neighbours cat spent 90% of his time in our house for at least ten years, maybe more. His owner a single guy never spent much time at home and would disappear for a week at a time, sometimes more for some reason. I made puss a nice comfy bed in the log house for sleeping in with a platform so he could look through the window and down the garden. In the morning he would hear me moving about and come come running across the yard for some breakfast, then when i tried to encourage him to leave and go home he would run upstairs and fall fast asleep on one of the beds until tea time when he heard the tea pot rattling. He would then come running down the stairs for some more biscuits and then go out on patrol. Now I expect he is on a cloud somewhere probably fast asleep or on patrol.

He looked like he had to work out how to get his hind end down. He might have some hip pain. That soft, giving surface should feel wonderful if his joints are stiff or sensitive. Really brought tears to my eyes to think of how much attention to his comfort he probably hasn't had, up to now. Good quality food, and a nice supportive bed, what a life! may it all be good from now on.

It's heartbreaking to see a cat in such poor condition, but at the same time, I am so grateful that good people have him now and he has that beautiful soft bed to sleep in. Am 75, always had animals, strays & castoffs. My “Velcro” cat adopted me 3 years ago. He is now 6. 18 lbs. got 17 1/2 year old boy 15 months ago at shelter. Owner died. Got 15 year old girl last March. Same story. William now 18 1/2. Chosen couch as his “nest”. Sweet old man. Gets around a bit. Cuddles me & purrs. Frances loves the bedroom. Was sleeping on rug first few days. Got pink bed. She hopped in & is glued to it. All wonderful & happy.

@ I would love to have 10 cats. I also have 2 house rabbits. My late husband and I started rescuing bunnies 35 years ago. Indoors, from shelter, male & female, spayed & neutered. Labor of love, one is 9 and the other is 4. Can live to be 12 or so. Can’t help animals bc enough. They know when they have been saved. Adopting is the ultimate in recycling.
