"Hey guys, Rufus the Alpaca here. So I'd kinda figured something was up when I saw them sectioning off and messing with my girls. I snuck a look over and watched Daniel pummel my Lucy to the ground, so I laid a trap for him. These people don't know me, where I come from. I was a golden hoof boxer in the bronx when I was little. So I waited until I got him in real close and then took him for a ride and wanted to find out what he was made of! Little did I know, Daniel was a 4 time world champion in competitive Ring around the Rosie, so unfortunately I was toppled today, but I spit on him a couple times so it wasn't a complete loss. Daniel, you and Deejay are the perfect alpaca parents. The tone of voice and your calm nature with them really helps to get them to calm down (the girls anyways, lol). It is true, the more contact you have with them, the better they'll be. Friends of ours have alpacas and the young ones, especially those born on their acreage, are almost like dogs. They'll come up and literally lean into you (like Bear does) and want you to scratch them. I have to say, that picture of Lucy at 14:02 just melts my heart. She's a cutey pie! xo Heather🇨🇦

😂😂😂 This was hilarious Daniel!!! Made my day. I had 16 Alpacas a few yrs back... I have more memories of them (a few of them) throwing my husband around😂😂🥰 They do get better if they are handled often. I use to have a chair out near the barn and they would come sniff me and lay by me. Some give kisses. They are a very special therapeutic animal. The babies are precious, being handled from the beginning they will be more friendly!! Great videos, thanks again❤❤❤

I just want to tell you that I have been watching you and following your gardening advice for the last 2 years and have gain so much from all you wisdom.....But today I was brimming myself for the fall and winter here in Bend. SMOKE and all.... But what I can across was your farewell to your Hwy family. Your decision to leave was heart wrenching. I know that you were listening to our Heavenly Father's words. You have a beautiful wife and children and they are so much your priority. That is what should be. You have given so much to your community with your protective service and now this beautiful family of your needs you. I am 82 and live with my daughter. She is the mother of two College kids that are on scholarships....on hold to back to school. For myself, I love my yard and gardening. Since I have moved to her 3/4 of an acre I have taken up the vegetable garden and that's where you have come in. Love, love your presentation and the fact that the animals and kids come in the videos. Thank you for your wisdom young man and keep up your love of what your passion is. The loss of hair on alpacas noses can be a mineral deficiency. Buy some Zinc Oxide cream and put it on the bare spots. Do it once a day until you see it improve. If they have had the condition for years they may actually have formed a leather like surface that may never grow hair as the follicles have been damaged. Rufus is a pill. You did a nice job on the nail trimming. A gentle hand on their shoulders sometimes helps to calm them. Once again, nice job.

I was a SMALL animal vet tech for about 10 years. Many nails, I have trimmed. This was highly entertaining. I love all the alpaca sounds. ❤

When I was an FFA we used to trim the hooves of cattle. We had a table that was vertical we would bring the animal alongside strap them to the table and then flip the table horizontal and then work with her hooves from there.

Just watched Boise D’Arc’s video - he was a using a goat chute - goats go through and they are put on their side. Another one to watch is Blue Cactus Dairy Goats- she has a nice herd and she uses a milking stand. She also gives them a treat while on the stand so they go willingly for a treat.
