I listen nearly every day to this song Kitty come home and Blanche come la neige. Beautiful, not to forget the 70-ties song Complainte pour St. Catherine. I loved this edition, the woman has a very beautiful voice, classical trained, I'm sure. I'll definitely put it on my playlist. Well done radio 3 !!!

One of the many great songs off The McGarrigle Sister's album Dancer With Bruised Knees.

Annie wrote this song in the mid-70's, welcoming her sister Kate (Kitty) back to the family after the breakup of her marriage to Rufus' father. It was performed - sadly - at Kate's memorial in 2010. Beautiful song and brilliantly performed. Bravo Rufus and China. Buy Pink Martini's "Get Happy".

thanks for the background info. given that other songwriter's have often written about their cats...as in Karla Bonoff's GOODBYE MY FRIEND, I somehow never would have connected Kate/Kitty! lol

Anna and Kate were such a huge part of my life, especially during the 1970's when I was at school in Ireland

Anna McGarrigle, who wrote the song, is Rufus' aunt - his mother is Kate McGarrigle.

Fascinating....not sure about the way Rufus ended the song though sounded a bit like a cat singing.Perhaps its supposed to.
