This is great analysis and an excellent tip for aspiring scrumhalves (although I would be careful running ahead of a kick because you can be penalized for that)

Thanks for having a look, Edward. You're right with the kick- definitely have to be mindful to stay on side!

We know Dupont "studies" a lot rugby and loves Aaron Smith: I think we can guess his runs were inspired by Smith's.

Good lines for an old school 7 as well. Some players really struggle with this

Im a springbok fan, honestly it's sad this rugby analysts has just picked up this tactic recently,I ask him to please watch Fiji's Waisale Serevi he has been doing this from the last 10yrs of his ruby career....Serevi has baffled his opponents simply majority of times doing this tactics....Rugby Wins.

in open play there's no offside line... so no offside
@danieljoseph9553
@danieljoseph9553 3 жыл бұрын
Seems wrong doesn't it, because he is in front of the ball when the ball is kicked, which makes Smith offside.. so he should retreat 10m. Nobody ever puts him onside during that passage of play. Usually a winger is putting everyone onside because he is the only player onside when the kick is made.. sprints forward to in affect puts everyone on your team onside. Comment above saying it's not offside because it's open play is incorrect I believe. Correct me if I'm wrong

@samoangentleman9027
@samoangentleman9027 3 жыл бұрын
I don't think he was offside because he didn't touch the ball from the kick or made a play from the kick. He was just anticipating the break and received a pass from the winger. If Aaron was the receiver from the kick and was in front then he will be offside. But once he was behind the ball receiver he's on side.

@@samoangentleman9027 but you can't run to the ball if your offside, you have to retreat or at least stop your run
