The funny thing about Steve Smith is that he's a TV analyst now, and he's one of the nicest guys ever. Always compliments the players after games and has great back and forth with them. But when he puts that uniform on, you know you should not f%&# with him. Not sure if there will EVER be another player as small as Steve who plays with the same fire and physicality.

One thing this video didn't mention was that in addition to being an elite receiver, Smith was also a great kick returner in his early years. He had 4,055 special teams return yards and 6 touchdowns, to along with his 14,731 receiving yards and 81 touchdown catches. Smith was even a pretty good rusher too, racking up 387 yards and 2 touchdowns on the ground. Smith's career total of 19,180 total yards is currently 8th on the NFL's all time list.
@kiwikicker92635 жыл бұрын
Thats epic. Thanks for the stats!
@TheStapleGunKid5 жыл бұрын
@@kiwikicker9263 Yeah I have the utmost respect for players like him, who still returned kicks despite being a starter on offense. Usually the team's kick returner is a specialist player who does nothing but return kicks. Teams generally don't have their starters on offense or defense do it because they are concerned about the risk of injuries. Tim Brown is another example of an elite player who also did double duty as a kick returner. You should do a reaction video on him some day.

I know u have looked at some of the Nebraska games. And have been told about Nebraska Football. While we are trying to get back to what we were when Devaney and Tom Osborne were our Head Coaches here is some of what we are trying to bring back in FULL FORCE. Our Black Shirt Defense. Known to be one of the toughest college Defenses in the country from the sixties through two thousand. And had a brief blip for a couple years in the mid two thousands. This is a short video. Nice thing is we think we have the coach that will bring us back to playing this hard nosed kind of game again. His name is Scott Frost. the Last QB to win a National Championship for Nebraska and it was during Tom Osborne's Last year of coaching. Frost has had two Head Coaching jobs that so far are two years each. In the 1st one at the U of Central Florida he took a team that NO wins the year he got hire to two years later having a 13 and 0 team and in the bowl game they played Auburn who was the ONLY team that year to beat the National Champs, Alabama that year. And we are just about done with year two of Frost having one more game left for the reg. season. We only have 5 wins so far this year which is better than last year and we need one more win to go to a bowl game. The Last coach, Mike Riley was a nice guy but a CLUELESS coach and really destroyed our program. He really left Frost little to work with, And that is IF his kids stayed which most didn't. some even waited to quit until the season started or when they lost the starting job during the season. Our starters are almost half true frosh or sophs. And we have Jrs. and Srs. that do not start cause they are not as good as the frosh or sophs. Give us a couple years more and you will see the start of something REALLY SPECIAL!!! At NEBRASKA AGAIN. Here is a decent small sample of the Nebraska Black Shirt Play!! kzbin.info/www/bejne/gJbRq4Jtq9aXkK8

What was so amazing about Smith is he was so short...comparatively. Megatron, Moss, Green are all all-stars but it’s a lot easier to snatch the ball out the air when you’re 6’4+ and can leap over all defenders. Smith had to fight harder for positioning. His strength and tenacity def added to his skill set. Loved the video

"That quarterback" is Jake Delhomme. Basically a journeyman QB who played in NFL Europe and got signed as a backup QB. He got his chance when Rodney Peete got injured and played very well for a few years until he injured his arm and had to have "Tommy John" surgery. He played 2-3 years more but he was a turnover machine because his throw strength wasn't the same.

Panther local here - the most prevalent and likely rumor was that they really wanted Cam to grow as the face of the franchise and locker room and Smith was simply too big of a legend and veteran to allow Cam to lead the team as long as he was there. Something along those lines. He had declined and contract wasn't really the issue so it would appear to be something to do with attidude or other factors. We sacked the GM who did it a couple of years later after he made a few other questionable choices.
