This week we have a first our first episode of “Rugby’s Greatest Unions” where we put together the best playing partnerships that our game has seen.

Absolutely brilliant GBR. What a great idea, and a fantastic trip down memory lane with legends. You mentioned them in the game, but would love Hill, Back and Dallaglio to chew the fat.

Grew up loving Scottish Rugby in Ireland via my Dad, he loved Bill McMurty the Scottish commentator, I might have his name wrong, I recently saw that 1990 game on Scottish rugby you tube , just give you chills the Scottish supporters back then had a different noise level to today , the Passion of the players back then was at another level, they might be milles off the players of today physically but not in their drive to win at all costs, amazing stuff as a 42 years old watching this from New York brilliant!!!

@@fatkev1983 Yes, I'd agree, but right behind were Peter West and Cliff Morgan. Both didn't quite have the "preparation" that McClaren put in, but I love hearing "My word" from Peter West and "He must score" from Morgan.

Given Ireland's current position in the Six Nations where they have the opportinity of becoming the first team in the Six Nations era of winning the championship with a Grand Slam back to back, it might be interesting to have two groups. One group that did not win anything when they played for Ireland and the second group that have won a Grand Slam, Championship, or at least a Triple Crown while playing for Ireland. You could have one of the front rows from the 90s, such as Keith Wood, Paul Wallace and Peter Clohessy/ Nick Popplewell with the 2009 Grand Slam front row of Jerry Flannery, John Hayes and Marcus Horan. Alternatively, you could have one of the 90s backline partnerships, such as Simon Geoghegan, Richard Wallace, and Conor O'Shea with the 2009 Grand Slam backline paternership of Luke Fitzgerald, Tommy Bowe and Rob Kearney.

Enjoyed that. Laughed out loud about Tom McCleish (not just a super rugby player but one of the best trout fishers I have met). Only negative Haskel needs to understand there is a reason he has two ears and one mouth and that they should be used in that proportion.

Gary mentioned driving for a grain company. It reminded me of an event in either 1986 or 87 when someone in the English grain trade challenged the Scottish Grain trade to a rugby game. Findlay Calder was then a grain trader, Gary transporting it and JJ growing it! Coupled with the Bairds and a whole list of other linked Scottish internationals etc the Scottish team came out on top.

Great episode - but unrelated feedback. Is there any reason you/they don't use lapel mics? When you've got guests who aren't used to holding them it's more noticeable but I've wondering why you don't. Is it just to get that bit more branding in? It would maybe help remove the fumbling noises.

1990 Match a great one. Unfortunately, the referee, Bishop I think was his name, a Kiwi, did not play advantage. I've watched that game a few times on video, and every time he blew the whistle when advantage should have been played, I cringe (I'm a referee.). I sort of thought this was a Southern Hemisphere attempt to make a mockery of the match. Tough game, and at a time of amateurism, and let's admit, semi-professionalism to an extent.
