In league that would be a red card all day long and at least a 6 game ban. Contact with the ref/official is deemed to be a really big no-no, even 'accidental' contact can and will get you a game or two in the sheds and rightly so IMO. What we see here is ludicrous, Barnes should have sent him off for that!

He called the referee a "fucking cheat" simply because he conceded a penalty at the scrum, a scrum in which they'd been dominated at all game so not only was it stupid to say it in the first place but it was actually ridiculous to suggest that the referee was awarding the penalty because he preferred the other team.

@@andystrachan598 He wasn't red carded for swearing, he was red carded for calling the referee a cheat. Even if you have that opinion on Barnes (I personally disagree, I think he's a very good ref) you do not call the referee a cheat, especially as captain, especially at half time in a final. Idiotic at best, and the 8 week ban that Hartley received as a result would suggest that Barnes was very right. Look at the first clip, Barnes gets pushed by a player, and was strongly criticised by a number of commentators for not sending him off, and the player in question received a 14 week ban. You're idiotic to suggest he's a game spoiler.
