"we tell them we love them" Great words from the Principal/Headmaster. Boys try to be tough, but they all need love. We all do. I was really impressed by Steve Hansen, Richie Mo'unga and other All Blacks staff and players who talked openly about mental health and showing their emotions. Rugby is a tough game. But it's also a loving game.

Yes the ABs didn’t get to the final of the RWC this time around but there are some people in the comments that are missing the point of this documentary. NZ and the ABs have consistently been good at Rugby, there was an expectation that they would do very well at the RWC and so when they failed it looked like a long way to fall. It’s happened before and to every team that has won the RWC or any champion team at the top of their game. You don’t always remain at the top. But to maintain the quality teams that have been fielded over the years since Rugby went pro, these stars have to come from somewhere and that’s what the documentary is covering. I think if you were to make a similar documentary in South Africa or even in Australia, you’d probably find many things similar. That is, to build legendary teams and players you start that thirst and passion young.

A few elite rugby schools aren't enough to sustain the ABs. Banning full-contact rugby in schools is killing our player base. The schools I went to back in the 90s, most boys played rugby cause we got use to having games every lunchtime + bullrush. My local which has produced professional players didn't even have a 1st XV this year. Everyone just wants to play basketball cause that's what they do every lunch break. The few elites who are still keen end up going to super 8 schools cause that's the only way to get recognized. Also a lot of Mums are scared of their boys getting hurt and are putting them in soccer. You see it in the current ABs. A lack of mongrel and strength and weakness in key positions. We never had a huge player base to choose from. 50 years from now it will likely be even smaller.

@@Tuhoeterra im talkin on an actual international level. I gotta give a special mention to Hastings BHS in the last 3-4 years they have been very strong too but the stats don't lie Hamilton Boys has be the most CONSISTENT team in NZ. I've been keeping a close eye on the SA schools and they look bigger than our NZ schools and are VERY strong too, but it is way too hard to compare the two systems saying which one is better. The Sanix World invitational tournament for NZ teams is very inconsistent because our winners from this year goes next year due to the schedules. Most schools that win national titles end up losing most of there squad the next year cause they have graduated. I don't know if its the same for SA, but could someone comment and tell me, i'd like to know. But there is no way anyone can say NZ schools is better than SA schools and SA schools is better than NZ schools. All I do know is that they are both a cut above the rest of the world.

Held the bledisloe cup for 16 years and the trinations/rugby championship title 16 times...if school boy rugby in SA was so amazing it should reflect in the national teams performance. This year y’all were lucky..all blacks are most consistent team ever. there is no other team who have dominated as much as the all blacks have in there sport..if the allblacks played SA tmrw I have no doubt they would rip them to shreds. 😂

you never saw a kicking tee back in the day because they weren't smart enough to use them. you may remember it made the whole process unnecessarily longer to build the tee with dirt so they converted to sand to speed up the process and finally woke up to a ready made tee. Now if only they could speed up the scrum process...

We also sent Napier boys, Christchurch boys and Southland boys college over to the tournament who are some of the shittiest teams in NZ secondary school rugby. I’m sure that South African schools work hard, but going on here and all you South Africans complaining and moaning talking shit about NZ secondary school rugby when you only beat teams like CBHS is just un needed.
