"... the hardest part of this job ... is getting the front sight off ..." Damn straight. I can attest to the same. Didn't know that it was lightly welded. Makes sense. It was a bear to get off. Performed this upgrade a few years ago. However, thinking about replacing the Tech Sight with a Nodak NDS-26 Rear Sight which has a built-in rail. Could then use a Bushnell TRS-25 red dot as needed. The Tech Sights are really nice, though.

Military sights rule, and the Tech Sights are straight-up good quality! I don't want to cap on puting scopes on a 10/22 - if you do it I love you; a scope on a 10/22 does not work for me - I have tried a 1/2 dozen scope combinations and always liked the open sights better - just me. As a Marine, I knew if they were 1/2 good it would be better than what came on the rifle. My expectations were found to be tenfold. Butt simple to install and sight in just like a military sight - and more. I know you can do a lot of things to improve a 10/22 out of the box - hands-down, the best improvement for the money is the TRS200 Tech Sights in my book.

its not welded on.mine fell out all by itself after about 100 rounds.the front sight is adjustable you can tap it left or right i think thats why it falls out,on mine it looks like they used 1 drop of glue to hold it in place. a little time in the sun and she just falls out, i have the same take down rifle. These sights came on my 10/22 grey collectors series with a picatinny rail too

Hi. I actually tried out these TSR 200 tech sights & I never could get them to zero @ 25 yards. I NEVER could get either the rear sights to go high enough OR I NEVER could get the front post to go low enough AND i finally got sick of using up all my range time @ $14 per hour!!! I tried several times and finally just gave up. I still have the sights BUT I now put a great scope on my 10/22 and that works for me. THX.; JAMES.

I'm curious to see how they work out after some use. I doubt they will stay zeroed seeing as the front post and rear peep are not mounted on the barrel. I would like to see a range video to see how this setup works out. I have my doubts

So far so good. Took a bit to get them sighted in to where I wanted them, but they hold zero great and have an excellent sight picture compared to the original Ruger iron sights

I easily got the front sight off with a brass punch. Took about 20 seconds.

@@sandymitchell8182 Guys, sights are tapered. When you get a new sight they are oversized and need to be hand filed to fit. Who knows what the folks are doing to set sights in the factory to save time. You use a triangle file where one side is honed flat. File it with a slight taper where you can drift it in place and it comes tight - stays put, no worries, no thread locker or glue needed. If you have one that is lose, peen the bottom side of the sight with a punch - and automatic punch is priceless here! It will raise the metal and get it back to tight drifting it in. Gunsmithing 101.

Will these work on the Ruger's that don't come with sights; just the rear Weaver rail? Thank you.
@TheSquizzlet
@TheSquizzlet 3 жыл бұрын
The top of the receiver should have four screws along the top that attach the rear rail. The Tech sight attaches to the rear two attach screws, so if you remove the rail you can attach them. You need to make sure your 10/22 has the dovetail slot for the front sight though. You can see what the slot looks like at 1:30 in this video. If your rifle does not have that slot you cannot attach the front sight post.

It's not welded. Access to weld is impossible. It may have been some sort of loctite or adhesive.

Ooh it gets repetitious when you go ahead right here then go ahead right there then go ahead again first right here then right there followed by go ahead again. I know I seem pedantic but so many people are unable to just do something; they always have to go ahead first and nothing is here or there it’s always right here and right there. Ooh it gets dull fast!

Sights are going to drift anytime you take-down this rifle. These sights are designed for non-takedown rifles like the sporter or carbine model.

The front sight is not welded. It's impossible. You also pushed the front sight through the wrong way. The dovetail on the sight is tapered. No wonder you had trouble.

Of course it won't align exactly the same each time. There's a reason Ruger placed the rear sights on the barrel for the takedown

Saying the front sight is welded in is completely FALSE. It is NOT welded. How would they get in there to weld it? The dovetail is cut so as to provide tension to hold the sights in place. The front sight is essentially pressed into the dovetail. Some dovetails are tighter than others. Some dovetails are so tight they need to be filed down. Some are right on and some are loose and need shim stock to tighten it up.

If you follow these recommendations to constantly play with your firearm, you mangle your gun, put in marks and scrapes, and spend enough time and money to buy another gun. Let alone the fact that you will not shoot any better with all those toys you put on.... I do not suggest mutilating your gun... Leave it ALONE.. The gun should stay as is... If you do not like the sights.. 1) don't buy it...get something else.. 2) Install a good quality rail, and put in a good red dot sight, like the Bushnell TRS 25, which stays true forever. I have this setup and it is perfect, and my gun is perfect as new...

Webchez why hate? I usely change the front and rear sights on EVERY gun I own cause I'm from a cmp background. And I know what aids in tighter groups. And the #1 thing I see is people saying that the sights are to thick or just fine but they want to use a "blade" front sight. So wider and BETTER sight all the way around will allow smaller groups than getting a new gun. If you were a gun guy you'd encourage this man.

Ruger cuts some corners in the manufacture of the 10/22 making some of the internals have a shorter life/poorer quality than upgraded parts. By doing this, they can charge $200 for this amazing rifle that works great out the box and let the consumer choose to do with it what they want after that. Hence a massive aftermarket for this particular rifle compared to others.
