Ruger Alaskan .44 Magnum

Have to love the Ruger Alaskan in 44 magnum. Nice shooting first time out with it. thanks for posting.

I have some 300gr Hornadys loaded up to max w/H110. The book load actually calls it the Ruger 10mm Magnum. The bullet is seated to rear cannelure to allow more powder capacity. They are pretty hot loads, but after shooting the Buffalo Bore 340gr +P+ loads out of my 7.5" Redhawk, they seem about the same in the "kick" category.With the 2X scope on it, it makes a good shooter. Little much to carry tho, but I have a shoulder holster for it.

@19baitmaster51 You won't get that much velocity/energy shooting those rounds of this gun because of the short barrel. I tested my Alaskan vs my 7.5" Ruger Redhawk and typical 270 grain loads with H110 lost about 200fps vs the 7.5" Redhawk. I could make up some 355grain Beartooth bullet handloads that run 1250 out of my Redhawk but I'd rather have fun shooting. Full house loads with 265 Ranch dogs are plenty of kick IMO.

of course its double action. your still suppose to pull the hammer back..less movment at trigger pull..alot more precise shooting..nice gun..im trying to find a good deal on one...here in fl there going for like 750 775 new..how much u pay?? thanks

Id buy this 44 mag gun IF the inner barrel extended out more and was either 4 or 4 1/2" and has a blade front sight and is >>>PORTED

has anyone shot this AK with Buffalo Bore's 340gr hardcast that does 1649 ft lbs of energy? I shoot a Redhawk and am dying to pull the trigger on one of these loads. Only $2 a round....

yeah you right you dont have to pull the hammer back but by doing so it makes a shorter and lighter pull which leads to more accurate shots. But im sure you know that maybe.

@monsterman27 Yeah, that's a good idea, NOT! If you are target shooting and never plan on using it as a defensive gun maybe you can play with SA. Damn, everyone in this country should be required to go through a weeks worth of firearms training (like LEO) before they can buy a handgun.
