Ruger American 7.62x39 at 600 yards

Should add that target size is 12x20 inch mini IPSC. As most of the misses appeared just off the sides of the plate, the rifle was shooting a bit over 2 MOA at 600 yards. Not terrible for bulk Russian ammo that had gone subsonic.

I found the bolt on mine is significantly smoother after i converted it to feed from AK mags with the adapter from firecastle customs Definitely enjoy the gun a lot more now

Grabbed one of these a couple of years ago for under $400. Paired it with a cheap 2-7 scope and a YHM suppressor. With subsonic 7.62x39 it’s hilariously quiet.

great video. I love my RAR762x39. I have roughly 800rds through mine and its smoothed out the bolt/action. mine used to be like how it is in your video but it breaks in.

Been wanting one of these things for years. It seems stores usually only have the 450 bushmaster and 5.56 variants. Walked into a cabelas and walked out with one last year. I’ve put maybe 2k rounds though it and clean and maintain it as much as I do any of my other guns; never. I put a primary arms ffp 1-6 7.62x39 bdc optic on it. Mostly because I prefer bdc reticles and don’t like doing math. I’ve never bought anything as a plinker before. But it does shoot out to 450 yards with boring regularity. Overall I’m really impressed with the accuracy and reliability even though it’s my first ruger.

I completely forgot to mention the Ruger 20 MOA rail I also installed immediately after buying it. Recommended if you’re going to be using it to reach out like in this video.

The Mossberg MVP in 5.56 has a loose fit with the magazine that also makes it difficult to strip and chamber a round. I have found that pushing forward on the back of the bolt vice the bolt handle works pretty good. Might try that with the Ruger.

Thanks, I'll give that a whirl. One thing I've noticed is it really doesn't like to feed if I brace the magazine against a rest or shooting bag. Makes sense as that would make the rounds tip forward relative to the travel of the bolt.

Call Ruger and get a AR style magazine adapter. It will becomes a lot smoother there around $23. You can use 7.62 x 39 magazines or 65 Grendel magazines.

You can smooth out the razor edges on your bolt by hand with jeweler ceramic rotary files from Oreily Auto parts i did it to my rar 350 legend i have not had any trouble since then 👍🏻
