My ranch likes 25.5 of Varget with 55grn Vmax's, it also shoots well with H335 and W748. Another nice load is 23.5 of H322 with a 50grn Vmax. Those rifles shoot 1/2 MOA pretty easily once you find the right combo. My OAL is 2.240 for the Vmax loads. I bet CFE223 would get you where you want to be as well.

Garret real like your rifle sit up. I was a Cabelas and seen this rifle for the first time, real look nice for a plinker to care around in hills or play with a range. I been reloading my own ammo for 40 + yrs. Seeing as your group open up when you went from 25 gr to 27 gr, I would try loading some rounds at 24 gr and 24.5 gr. see what that gets you. Also I would look at a heavier gr bullet with a 1.8 twist a little heavier bullet may give you a tight group. Good luck on finding that special load. I wish you lots of fun with new rifle.

Suggestion..Stick with the Varget and do a ladder test. Varget is extremely flexible across various weather conditions. There's videos online on how to do it. Use the results from the ladder test to determine the right grain of powder.

Hi Chuck’n you have vertical groups !! If you loosen the action screws, then press down on the Tip of the Tang, The barrel WILL ROCK UP AND DOWN 2 Inches !!!! Fix is to remove the barreled action, cut both tips off a popsicle stick, place both tips under the tip of the Tang, reinstol the barreled action and tighten down the action screws !!!! Remember, when you put the barreled action back in the stock, push the action toward the rear of the stock !! Should really help your vertical groups because barreled action can’t rock up and down !!

I have the same rifle in both 556 and 350 legend. The 350L is set up as a brush gun with a Romeo 5 red dot as it's only good for about 150-200y anyway. The 556 I am undecided...Had a cheap 3-9x40AO on it but It adds a lot of weight and I just didn't like it all that much. Will be trying a 1-6 LPVO on it next to see how it does. Cheers. Do you get better groups with the .223 or the 5.56??? Considering same grain and such, the appeal of this Ruger is the price point of this rifle and being able to feed it inexpensive ammo. The Ruger American Ranch in 5.56/.223 and 7.62x39 is a great addition to any arsenal, although I would probably lean towards the Ruger American Predator in the .223 for the longer barrel but not sure if it’s chambered for 5.56 NATO also???
