Thanks! It’s got whatever crown Ruger did from the factory. I’ll discuss this with him. I think cast bullets and further load development will help, along with me getting a proper bench and rest setup to check it. What I’m doing works for what I have, but I feel like it could be better. I agree with that. I have found that numbering the cylinders and finding the POI for each one can lead to figuring out if a particular cylinder is shooting flyers. The gun writers are using the best of the smaller group is to eliminate the human error part of a string of shots. That’s provided all are grouping tightly to begin with. I’ve never had the luxury of a machine rest. This is an idea most writers nowadays use and write about. It’s speaking directly to the guns accuracy not the shooters. There ideas not mine. It does seem reasonable though.

My 92' Blackhawk throats were .450" ish had them opened up to .452"

A black-on-white upside down "v" makes an excellent aim point. It allows you to snuggle the sights up to the edge of the black very precisely every time. Must be black rather than gray. I make one then photo copy it. I've loved all my Ruger Blackhawks in 45 Colt. 😊

Not sure if anyone else has mentioned this but, in my long search for accuracy, I found out many years back to use a chronograph. The listed velocities in manuals often will vary with your results. Components, firearm mods (cylinder throating) and other things can cause variations. I’m currently using a Caldwell that was $97 on Amazon and works great. Also, most gun magazines articles and podcasts I see now are doing 5 shot groups, from hand rest and using the best three shots to measure. The feeling is that duplicates closely what a Ransom rest could produce. Just a thought, I’ve never used a Ransom Rest.

I have always thought that groups should be all cylinders since each chamber contributes its own point of impact.

I’ve tightened groups by throating cylinder throats to .4525. Huge difference. Also a Belt Mountain base pin.

I have now got them on four of five Ruger SA revolvers and am going to order one for the last. A measurable difference was noted on each one. $30 plus shipping. A worthwhile investment.

Try downsizing your bullet weights down to cowboy loads of 200 grains round nose or flat tips just for shits & giggles and I didn't get your yardage you were shooting at I'm guessing 7 or 10 yards would be my max at grouping on paper with a handgun but that's just me and my old eyes for shooting factory ammo !!!

I’ve been shooting all my handloads at 25y. In these earlier videos I was terrible at stating that. I apologize! Since this video I’ve settled in with 270 grain SWC. They seem to work well for my use and this handgun. Appreciate the comment!
