I have two Ruggables in my kitchen (to protect the flooring underneath and because they look gorgeous). Here are my suggestions for those still on the fence: 1. If you know you are going to have to wash them all the time, don't put them in a place with a ton of heavy furniture on top of them. 2. Instead of putting the rug on the pad, flip the rug upside down and put the pad on the rug. This way it will be much easier to center the pad and readjust it as necessary. This is especially true for the larger rugs. Mark the center of the rug and the center of the pad, then, line up the corners. 3. Removing and replacing the larger rugs is not an easy task for one person. Get someone to help you.
@kgal12982 жыл бұрын
Thanks I need to try the rug then the pad it's a pain to realign it after a wash. I also wish they'd make a different rug pad for pet owners I found that when my dog has an accident the pee soaks to the pad and it's almost impossible to get the smell completely off unless you catch it right away. As for the furniture I knew I'd have to clean it so I definitely didn't have the same issue moving it. As for her dryer issue I don't know what that's about mine dries fine in the dryer.

I get that its frustrating to move furniture in order to clean the rug every time but.. that's not really a criticism of the rug or company itself. If you need to clean any kind of rug, you'd need to do this anyway.
@Extraordinaryee3 жыл бұрын
Love the honest review. The first two cons don’t really seem like a ruggable con as you’d have to move furniture for any rug if your dog pissed on it and it would be gone for awhile if you had it properly cleaned. (By that I mean spot cleaning dog pee off a rug is NOT it- it will still stink)
@TatianaPritchard3 жыл бұрын
Thanks, yes totally! I’m just trying to communicate that the concept of washing your rug in a machine is great at first but requires a lot of time and moving of furniture. I actually find it easier and quicker to wash it with the Bissell!

Ahh makes sense. We had one difficult pup where it was A LOT of accidents and I found a carpet cleaner wouldn’t cut it. (But having multiple dogs I can say it was more than normal pup accidents) I got rid of all my rugs because I couldn’t take it) luckily we are passed that stage!!!

I own two ruggables had them both for a year. Some things I learned is 1 - Do not put them in the dryer, let them air dry. The heat is probably what’s causing them to shrink the fabric. 2 - Try to spot clean stains before throwing them in the washer, most stains clean up easily on these rugs. 3 - Even though they are washable, washing them too much will cause them to fade, so wash only when it’s really needed. I typically wash mine maybe 1-2 times every 6 months. They still look brand new.

Hi! A professional carpet cleaner here. If you put the rug on yoyr drive way on a dry, warm day can cut the dry time down alot. It will e damp on the bottom but you can move it into a cleab area of the garage and put an air mover underneath. Its bigger than a box fan but much efficient.
@SecondHandJan3 жыл бұрын
I don't think its inconvenient to remove this rug... unless your washing it every month. Also if your using it only in a family room you should only have to move a coffee table and maybe lift the front legs of sofa or end table. A bedroom might be harder but again- should not require completely moving furniture. Also you can shampoo this rug with a carpet cleaner! The pad can be cut to fit your rug again if rug shrinks, and bubble-up can be removed with a steam mop easily BEFORE lying rug down, and will never re-appear. Trust me. I own REAL Persian rugs as well, they also will curl and cost hundreds to clean and weeks to wait for completion. Thats worse.
@ltomsen12 жыл бұрын

I hear everything she is saying and it’s legit/valid but also think we need to set expectations. Just because it’s washable doesn’t mean it should be washed frequently I would say twice a year is reasonable because if u had a traditional rug how many times would u steam clean it? Washable just gives u a better clean than steam clean (for extreme cases). Valid point about heavy furniture but same is true for a traditional rug if you want to steam clean those areas you still gotta move the furniture. I don’t think Ruggables r good for large areas kitchens, kids room and hallways makes the most sense. Those areas also tend to need smaller rugs so buying a new top after multiple washes is a plus and u can change out the look for cheap. Just my opinion

Hi! Professional carpet cleaner here. I've moved rugs out of people's homes for 8yrs. Its hard work!!! Usually with 2 people one guy can just tilt the furniture while the second guy curls the rug towards themso they get the whole side of the rug out. Maybe you did that already? But with another gal or guy shouldn't take long. How often do you wash your rugs? Many ruggable owners still bring it to the shop I work at to get it cleaned because we have the heavy duty stuff to wash it.

One year later: The washable rug ads never mention the pad is not washable. So what do you do when pet urine seeps into the pad? For my 8x10 rug pad I had to take it outside to the driveway, squirt it off with soap and water, let it air dry, then sweep the underside that had driveway dirt/grass on it. During the winter I had to squirt it in my shower and hang it across my tub and shower causing creases and bumps in the pad. TERRIBLE and I would NOT purchase again!!!

I would never put these rugs under heavy furniture. I would get smaller ones to put beside the bed. The smaller ones are WAY easier to wash and they dry super fast. I dry mine on EXTRA LOW. Two 45 minute cycles. No shrinkage whatsoever. The fraying IS a problem though. (although minimal, the fraying is there) I have to have these rugs for our older dog. She can actually enjoy the house now - no slipping and sliding on the wood and tile flooring. We buy the 5x7 size since it is way easier to take care of 👍🏼 , but again, i would never put these under any type of heavy furniture because of the issues you encountered. No curling issues so far... 😬

I did the whole "rollout thing" the start from one side and at the other… It's a bunch of crap it doesn't work. Fraying at the ends… you betcha! Now I swear the Velcro is losing its stick because it's lifting up at the corners where the Velcro should be. I would rather spend three dollars on a Walmart special and throw it away at the end of the week and buy a new one than ever buy another one of these rugs

I love your review. You're right. We don't think about moving the furniture off the rug when buying it. It totally helps that you point that out. True, as another person posted, this is not a Ruggable issue, but it is an excellent point. Drying it is also not the manufacturer's issue but again an excellent point when you live in a small place or one where you don't have the convenience to hang the rug outside. Not everyone has that and a great thing to point out. The fraying sounds like it's an issue for a lot of people and your right, the bubbling is ugly, aesthetically undesirable. The shrinking is crazy! I cannot believe that actually happened. This is a good, honest review. "Don't put anything heavy on the rug" is not a solution. That is just ridiculous and "have someone help you" is as good as "just pay for movers to move the furniture off the rug so you can wash it". So don't let the negative remarks and "solutions" get you down. GREAT REVIEW, thank you...KEEP THEM COMING!

To avoid fraying on the edges don't vacuum the edges. This is a tip recommended on the Ruggable website along with the types of vacuums to use. I wipe my rugs edges with a soft cloth. They still look good almost a year later. I have a Bissel steam cleaner that I will use so thank you for that tip Tatiana. I haven't washed mine in a washer. I wash mine with a soft cloth by hand on my hands and knees. Ugh. I happen to love mine but realize they do take a lot of care. I will say that they are not for everyone. Personally I will continue to purchase because I love the Cambria and Ademi Paprika patterns and rich colors. I still find them worth it even if I have to replace the top rug every few years. I was advised my rug had been delivered (both by ruggable & fedex), only to not yet receive it. When contacting ruggable, they have the most disappointing customer service. No phone number is available to speak with them. Just an email. When I did manage to find a number for them, the automated message advised to email customer service or leave a message for another department, but then hung up. It's so frustrating to make a significant outlay for their products and then have this happen. After seeing the quality is not that great and having to move furniture each time to wash it, I don't think it will be worth the investment anyway and I'm thinking about returning it if I ever do receive it.

Also, surprised that it dries in that time frame and not more (some of my clothes take 48 hrs to dry). You can also get the heavier version of the rug to have it lay more flat. It looks like she got the lower quality & thin version. So I know im not going to throw mine in the wash every week, so I'll still use the carpet cleaner on mine -- however, I'd rather have one i have fully throw into a washer to ensure its gets and all the way through clean (front, back, middle). ( I can not yet), but used to have cheaper nice Oriental Area rugs at the beach in San Diego for me and my standard Poodle, and she never had a accident but once or twice at the age of 14, when I did not come home on time to take her out...but anyhow..that's not the point ..The point I feel like the Home Depot big heavy area rugs that are around 250 to 500 bucks for like a 9x12 rug or smaller, last forever you just spot clean them with carpet shampoo and the order comes right out.. If not you, can go to pet store and get order remover to put on carpet after you spot wash... Best if you just buy a fancy 300 or 400 buck Hoover type major brand carpet cleaner .. rug is clean and dry not soaked in like 5 hours...Nice.... and its a soft plush feel ... If you got the big bucks I like the 2K to 5 thousand dollar fancy Oriental or Persian rugs.... they last like over a 100 years...!

During the winter I had to squirt it in my shower and hang it across my tub and shower causing creases and bumps in the pad. TERRIBLE and I would NOT purchase again!!!

@@deborahtherrien1540 I thought the website said the rug is waterproof or resistant enough to not have the liquid go through. Is that not the case?

It is not! They didn't have that option when I purchased.

I can’t believe you had to take the furniture off the rug before tossing it in the washing machine. Redic.

Not gona lie. After watching your video, i’ll just get the normal traditional rug. It's not worth all that fuss getting a rugable. Thanks
@TatianaPritchard2 жыл бұрын
Since making this video ive heard they improved a bunch of features, but I would get a gorgeous cozy soft rug from rugsusa and invest in a carpet cleaner to refresh it once or twice a year! 💛

Wait! These rugs can't be put in the drier? I've never heard that before....wow.

I mean you can put them in the dryer but that's what causes it to shrink and tear... and honestly it never fully dried for me in the dryer

Wait, how is it ruggables fault though that you put your rug under heavy furniture. That's not a con.

Sorry, no way does a home rug shampooer last forever. I've gone through three of them. The consumer shampooers are wimpy and waist of money.

I’ve had my home rug shampooer for over 7 years. Always clean it after every use.

It will definitely last you longer then a ruggable before you start to dislike it! Plus you can use it for multiples!
