The over 330 kilometre highway from Morpus in West Pokot to Nadapal at the border of Kenya and South Sudan is an uneven surface full of gaping potholes, and broken concrete drifts that makes travel a tortuous affair. Recent flash floods have led to insecurity and deaths. Three weeks ago the Kainuk bridge that connects Turkana to the rest of the county collapsed and it took more than two days to temporarily fix it. Locals accuse contractors of doing shoddy work.
