Appreciate your review and believe you that it says wait 5 minutes. But I highly doubt that is necessary , especially on that small generator. I may be wrong , but have never seen a jump starter make you wait that long. Thanks for the review!

Thanks. You're probably right. For a car battery that's dead it may require that amount of time, but hey! Better safe than sorry! Cheers!

I just bought mine today 08/25/2023 and bought the two yrs warranty to play safe. I initially charge in the wall outlet random lights came in from red yellow green then after two minutes stayed at green lights which mean to me is fully charged. It says in the manual initially charge it for 48 hrs🤔. Anyway there’s a low sound while charging, humming sound and like a morse code on and off. Just for your info. For now will see the performance. Have a good to all of you who reads this👋🙂

I notice when you had it hooked up to the generator battery that all 3 battery level lights flash in sequence when the switch was turned on.. On the older models they only did that when just charging the jump starter itself vs being hooked and boosting up to your generator battery
@HomesteadDIY3 жыл бұрын
Now you made me go look at the owners manual! While it does reference the running lights during charging, the manual is silent on when it's hooked up to a battery to charge it. So I don't know if that's a feature or a bug, but the battery pack has worked flawlessly each and every time I've used it, whether it's for jumpstarting a car or inflating tires. Thanks for watching. Cheers!

Did you get a beeping sound while charging? I'm charging right now and there is a loud beeping sound and there is nothing in the manual that says it does that.
@HomesteadDIY4 жыл бұрын
I did not. However, I just did a quick Google search and someone who bought a different model on Amazon had a similar problem. It was supposedly due to the unit being in the "on" mode during the charge. Not sure if that's your issue, but maybe it's something simple like that. Cheers.

Can you use it to do stand alone battery charge?
@HomesteadDIY Жыл бұрын
I don't believe so. It's not a trickle charge battery charger, but rather a jumpstarter to give your battery a boost when trying to turn over an engine.

Mine is not charging anymore and I only used it for no more than 4 months. Lights keep going from red to green and never stops at green anymore. It worked a couple of times. I never thought it would go bad so fast. Can not get a refund anymore since it’s only guaranteed for 90 days. I recommend buying a protection plan.
@HomesteadDIY3 жыл бұрын
That sucks. I just used mine the other day and it's still operating fine. Charged it up too without issue. I'm not sure if it matters or not, but I check mine every month (the instructions recommend doing so) and charge it if it's low. Sorry to hear that, and a protection plan might not be bad on something like this. Harbor Freight is really good with their policies. I had a multitool that kept dying on me and I had the protection plan, and they kept giving me a new one. I ended up getting 3 new ones(!). The last one was an upgraded model and it's worked fine since. Again, sucks about your battery pack.

To be clear it does not charge in 30 mins. Mine fully depleted took over 12 hours
@HomesteadDIY3 жыл бұрын
Yeah, if I gave that impression it was my mistake. As I noted in the video, it had appeared fully charged before I began to shoot so I hooked it back up to charge again and it took 30 minutes. However, I also check my battery pack monthly to see if it needs charging and if so, top it off. Might ultimately lead to battery failure down the road, but I also don't want it to be dead when I need it. Cheers!

you can trickle charge at low amps but never try to jump a car via the cigarette lighter... those wires aren't rated to handle that and you could cause a fire or other issues

A couple of months in and it's holding up and performing quite well. It is a quick and simple power pack that even my stepdaughter, who is not mechanically inclined in the slightest, was able to use without issue. And the air pump quickly fills vehicle tires too, which was a real help when I installed the tire pressure monitoring system I showed in a subsequent video. This has been a great all-around power pack so far and easily worth the money.

Don’t buy it! I paid $90 for that jump starter charged it up put it in my trunk and two weeks later I got it out to try and start someone’s car and that piece of junk didn’t hold the charge. Yesterday I tried using it to put air in my tire and same thing happened it doesn’t hold a charge. It’s like you have to charge it the day you’re going to use it. Junk!
@HomesteadDIY3 жыл бұрын
That sucks! Mine has worked flawlessly since I got it, and I use it regularly, relatively speaking. I've used it to jumpstart cars and my generator, and had to often fill a car tire that had a slow leak until I stopped being lazy and repaired it.I check to see whether mine needs to be charged once a month and have found it holds a charge without being use for for over a month, and then takes just a short while to fully charge. I still highly recommend it based on my own experience, which I guess is the only thing we can do. Cheers.

Gotta connect the positive (red) cable first and then the black cable. Once started, THEN turn “off” the power before you remove the cables (in reverse order (black THEN red)). And never put both cable clamps in one hand when they can touch each-other (especially with the power STILL on). 🤦🏻♂️
