It seems that there are no hooks in ceiling of the tent for hanging lights. How do you hang lights from the inside?

There are no provisions as such but there are actually some ring like haning things you can use to hang stuff. You might see them in some of the footages in the part 1 of that review.

What stops the bugs getting in on the top of the side walls ?

Nothing stops the bugs on top of the sidewalls. The awning tent is the only thing that is sealed.
