My sentiments exactly. I saw an ad for this product yesterday and went out and bought a pair today. It occurred to me that this is a brilliantly simple way of utilising an otherwise uselessly spinning wheel. Thanks Marvin; nice to have my judgement vindicated.

Excellent instruction video, plenty of demos on other KZbin sites to verify that this system actually works. I’m getting a pair.

What a fantastic supplementary recovery tool. Low impact and low stress on a vehicle as well. Thanks for showing us, Marvin.

I'm typically solo when off-road (hence the name, lol). This looks like a great piece of kit to throw in my recovery bag. Thanks!

3:10 If you use one, it turns your wheel into a diff locker. If you use two, it turns your wheels into a winch. If your car has diff lockers then one bog out turns it into a winch. At least from my understanding. if Your vehicle doesn't have diff locks, you must get the twin pack or risk spinning the other wheel.
@Bogout2 жыл бұрын
Yes, a single will work in many situations but we always recommend the twin solution due to the lazy axel.

Got this for my Jeep Renegade Trailhawk that will spend 80-85% of its time around a city, but the other 15-20% of the time will be running up dry (hopefully) riverbeds and rock piles to get to a better campsite, trailhead, single track ect. So, I didn’t want to throw a full winch on the front and throw off MPG and take away from the daily driver ability ( if you “need” a dedicated winch on a Renegade you got the wrong car - get a Wrangler) but still wanted a recovery option if things get spicy on the occasions it does get dirty. So, im pretty excited to have this as a “toss in the car” option. I can “toss it in the car” when im heading off road, and wont be lugging around a full winch when im just trying to pick up some groceries.

I also have a Jeep Renegade and bought this instead of the winch. I agree, this is lightweight and everything you add, siphons gas mileage. I also bought 100 feet of synthetic winch rope. My Renegade has never disappointed me while off-road. I am amazed at how well it does in dicy situations where I am not sure about its capabilites. Having the bogout along with traction pads and a high lift jack should prepare me for successful recovery on trails with moderate 4wd challenges.

Ive been waiting for an independent review (not just the manufacturer's perspective). Good to see - I'm seriously thinking of not taking a winch next trip - its 30kgs of decoration. Used it once in 10 years - and that was for someone else

@@danielliaw6860 i did because i asked for it. I initiated the contact with the company because I believe the product is practical and worth testing. I will try to organise a few different 4wds and 4wd systems to test it with and also see what people think of it after they have actually tested it.

This is not a review, this is a product instruction video. A proper review shows real world performance, what it's not good at, and how it compares to other products.

Good point. Im actually in the process of making another video showing real world testing from the footages I showed in this video. Thanks for your input.

The unwinding part could be a problem if the terrain is in steep rocky hill or mud or crossing river.
@ruggedlife Жыл бұрын
Yes I don't think this is suitable for that.
@Dirksechzehn4 жыл бұрын
Clever. But it has some dangerous points: see min. 11:56 : one of the straps gets hooked to the mud guard, Also, the purple strap can get hooked to the brake line or ventilation valve, depending on the geometry. He mentioned it: if you don't align it properly and the ladder slips off to the inside, you're finished. You would need a secon person to warn you if the alignment isn't perfect. But as it's light I would put them in the recovery box, they can solve problems that you won't solve with other gear. I think I would add a bar to force the two straps apart to prevent the above mentioned slipping. And I would use soft shackles instead of the strap, but this needs some testing. The knots could be a bit too bulky for some modern independent suspensions.
@ruggedlife4 жыл бұрын
Hey mate. Thanks for your input. I am actually about to release another video showing actual recovery and explain things further in real testing environments. That video will clarify your points so keep an eye on that 👍

@@ruggedlife Hi mate! I was imformed by an australien contact that this product is around now for some years, is that right? It looked like a recent development to me from the videos. This would mean that the BugOut is at least not a toy but seems to be a reliable device. Seems it can be a replacement for a winch in some cases, but one has to find a good anchor point. Mostly, you won't need much for that if you don't bog yourself up to the windows. I think a pair of really large sort of tent pegs could do it as you operate the BugOuts right on the ground. Maybe you can include that topic into your next video?

Great for utes and trucks with big wheel arches and clearance between body and wheels. Not so good on SUV's and such like vechile. Very difficult to fit when you really need it and you are bogged to the eyeballs and the chance of snagging on brake and suspension componentry is HIGH. Great concept and great product for the RIGHT vehicle, just not for SUV's. Certainly better than nothing and doubles as a really strong tow rope. I have a set of two so speak from experience.

Good video and very helpful thanks. On your front wheels there how much space do you have between the inside wall of your alloy wheels and your brake callipers? Looking at my own car I have about 1cm clearance there I reckon. Is that enough for method? Does it basically need just enough space for the red strap? Many thanks!
@ruggedlife3 жыл бұрын
Yes correct. I'd say mine is around 1cm too
