Visiting the Fattest, Most Cigarette-Addicted and Least Visited Country 🇳🇷

Ruhi Cenet is in Nauru, the least visited country in the world. Located in the middle of the vast waters of the Pacific Ocean and appearing just as a tiny dot on the map, it’s the smallest independent republic. Nauru is the most inaccessible country. Hardly 200 people make their way to this country each year. This is the least visited country in the world, even the closest countries are thousands of kilometers away from here.
Until recently, the locals on this isolated island had so much wealth that they didn't even know what to do with it. Once rich in phosphate deposits in 1975, Nauru became the country with the highest GDP per capita in the World.
Today, however, in these destroyed lands where no fruits and vegetables can grow, processed and fatty foods have become the norm. Nauru is recognized by the World Obesity Federation as the world's most obese country, with around 60% of its citizens are obese. The World Health Organisation also reports that Nauru has the highest cigarette consumption rate in the world.

Yes, sadly. Generations of greedy individuals, societies of ignorant people who don't want to see how poorly many live in other cultures, as long as they can continue to live their own lives in comfort, the moral and ethical sloth of those who don't want to see uncomfortable truths--all contribute to the planet's condition. Human nature is lazy; life on this earth will only continue to get worse, I fear.

Crazy place. I worked there in the 90’s with a construction crew from New Zealand. After my 6 weeks work I’d met and talked to locals. Very friendly people. At the time they were running out the phosphate, and aware of the corruption wasting the money away. I’ve told many people over the years of the unbelievable situation. Sadly the locals knew that those in charge never wanted the world to see the real state of life their. Your Doco is accurate. An interesting and astonishing place. What humans can ultimately do to the/there environment with the factor of greed.

For God so loved the world that He gave His one and only Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish but have eternal life. Jesus Christ loves you so much that He died for your sins and rose from the dead. If you repent from evil ways, believe that Jesus has paid the fine for your sins on the cross and confess Him as your Lord, you will be saved. You see, we all have sinned and fallen short of the glory of God, that's why Jesus Christ, fullness of Godhead bodily, lived a perfect life, fulfilled the prophecies and law, shed His Blood at the cross just so you could be forgiven, reconciled back to the Father, receive God's love, be made a new creation, whole, sanctified. It's not about religion and what good works you can do to earn salvation, it's only by grace through faith in the finished works of Jesus Christ. Read God's Word, preferably start with Gospel of John, pray for the Holy Spirit to fill you, give you wisdom and revelation that way you're born again and see your life changed by the Spirit of the Most High. Much love and God bless you!

Wow this rocked my mind. Had no idea about this country or all the issues you documented. Thanks for all your work putting this video together. I've long been fascinated by the resource extraction and environmental degradation on nations and islands such as the environmental catastrophe on Easter Island. This video makes me realize how many resource rich islands have suffered similar fates and your work documenting this is indeed another warning to humankind of the dangers of scaling up what we've done to islands to the main island planet Earth.

@@bryancorts5389 thanks. What's your perspective on Easter Island? I heard they probably used the trees on the island to move the statues. Maybe the statues the whole system of cutting out the statues cutting down the trees to move them etc. weren't only about religion but a big part of their economy. I often think about the last man cutting down the last tree and what he must have felt or thought to himself? Or maybe no one noticed until the trees were all gone. I often feel we're all doing the same thing at a global scale, except our statues are the internet, vehicles, phones, cities, etc. We're even now trying to build the largest statue called "artificial intelligence" that we want to talk to us.

@@PolishBehemoth It honestly seems like Nauru did an isolated case of a capitalism speedrun. They extracted all their resources, squandered the money in luxury and excess while destroying their ecosystem and giving 0 consideration for their future, and this is the result. What happened on Nauru, is happening at a much slower rate around the globe. This is what wealth extraction does, if we aren't living harmoniously with nature and replenishing what we can as we go, all resources are finite. We cannot possibly have infinite growth, and Nauru shows us what happens when that wealth is gone. It's tragic, but should be seen as a lesson many of us are ignoring. We need to stop tossing things in landfills and recycle EVERY material we can. We need to stop monocrop farming and grow sustainable food forests, that nurture themselves with overgrowth and foliage instead of mining phosphates and shipping them globally to replenish nutrients stripped of the ground from growing the same plant over and over and over. We need to do better.
@PolishBehemoth
@PolishBehemoth 5 ай бұрын
@@Fenthule I dont see how the terminology or practice of capitalism has anything to do with this. Socialist countrys are even more corrupt and waste resources and starve people in much worse ways! Look at soviet union (one of the richest resource lands in the world), north korea (who gets food shipments from other nations), cuba, venezuela (another super rich nation turned to shit from socialism). Etc. - Your second statement was kinda all over the place. Its impossible to recycle every single thing every single time. We dont have the man power or the education or the industry facilities for something like that. And also global resource trade depends on equal and fair trading fo rthe sake of business and survival. Saudi Arabia and the UAE are very similar to this island nations story. They (the former) almost exclusively live off of oil and natural gas deposits. But their government uses the money for health care, and better roads, and investing in other things that offset the problems of the one resource.
