My Grandpa owned a junkyard from the early fifties until his death in 2003. He crushed thousands of these because they were scrap metal. He crushed everything you love, after gutting the drivetrain and frame for foundry steel. Every classic car, truck, van, panel truck, tractor, and motorcycle ever built, he scrapped. He started by paying about ten dollars for a vehicle and ended up paying fifty at the end of his run. You do what you want, Casey!! At the end of the day they're disposable vehicles.

Don't even hassle with the cotter pin, just put a wrench on the nut for the ball joint and turn it, the cotter key will just shear off then you can get the piece out after its off with a metal pick. I never reuse them anyway.

I cringe when people cut into old irreplaceable cars. And I’ll cringe when I cut into my 65 ford as well, to do the coilover front and rear ends. But at the end of the day if we’re making it more driveable, safer with more modern handling/braking, etc, and making it look good, it’s hard to say we’re ruining anything. It’s more of a shame when a car sits and rots away without being driven and enjoyed because the owner doesn’t want to ruin it. There will be a day when there are none left except in the collections of the filthy rich. But I think by then we’ll have much more dire problems.

No one WANTS a tri-five Chevy... unless it has A/C. power disc brakes and steering, an LS swap and bags LOL. Or a complete makeover into a fake race car. DD has certainly done all of that, eh? So far his '55 Nomad credit card buy is mostly stock. Even Fab Rats took a perfectly preserved '55, replaced the drive train & suspension, and added A/C. I'm too old (and too poor) to want a car that barely idles, gets 8 mpg or sucks up $20,000 in parts 🤑 Casey, at least you're building a mix of different cars and trucks, and fabricating most of that. I'll allow a modified but stock looking '55 😀
