My sister, who has always been more quiet/shy, just married the one quiet guy in a very loud, very big family. His family loves having big family parties with all the aunts, uncles, cousins, etc, and at these parties my sister and her husband will go off to the side to just quietly hang out together. Which is honestly pretty iconic. I brought it up in my speech at their wedding and was like “I don’t think you can do that tonight tho”

Hey Gabi, as a proud Dutch person 🇳🇱, I can tell you that sure, we love our fast food, but the truth is, the fries craze in Amsterdam is exaggerated for tourists. Fries are a budget-friendly and convenient food choice for travelers, making them a hot commodity in the city. Additionally, fry shops are a profitable business with low overhead, as they can be run by anyone with basic skills and require minimal space. With the sky-high cost of shop space in Amsterdam, it's no wonder why fries are a go-to option! 🍟🇳🇱

Here's a fun story regarding "office romance". One of my ex bosses actually sat me down for a meeting to talk about how I wasn't allowed to date my supervisor. I had to explain to her that we weren't in a relationship, and that he was already dating someone and we were just friends. Over the course of a month, I received several warnings about the inappropriate behavior of dating my supervisor from this boss, despite the fact that I never was. My supervisor at the time also had to tell my boss several times that we were just friends. We eventually weren't allowed to work with each other anymore because we were "too friendly". I was making minimum wage at the time and wasn't about to deal with this level of harassment, so I quit shortly after. That same supervisor and I still saw each other as friends outside of work. He broke up with his at the time girlfriend a little before I quit my job. A week later, I got super drunk one night, accidentally confessed to him, and 3 years later we're now engaged and I'm the happiest I've ever been. I don't think that counts as an "office romance" but the people around us clearly saw it that way. Just something fun to share!

As someone under the umbrella of asexuality (demi and grey) it isn't that we don't want relationships. It's hard to nail down because there are so many nuances and categories within asexuality, but even AroAce (think of them as those who do not feel romantic or sexual attraction) can still desire a relationship, for whatever that needs to them.
@Stormflame Жыл бұрын
Jup, I’m AroAce, and even among us there’s still some that want a relationship despite not feeling the attraction… I used to too but I learned the hard way that I’m not comfortable with that at all lol but yea, it’s tough and annoying sometimes to be surrounded by „standard romance“ all the time so I definitely understand how the person asking the question feels…. I even like romance to a degree, I’m a bit of a romantic even, but being confronted with the expectation that everyone should have a partner can make you feel like you’re not enough. More rep and more possibilities for alternative lifestyles would be so cool! I’d love to have a family in a qpr eg
@bongibot1104 Жыл бұрын
It's definitely an odd thing, but it's something you both need to figure out as it goes. My partner was ace/aro and it made things very wierd because they tried to satisfy physical needs without going there if that makes sense but they didn't really enjoy it and I kept getting blue balled in that sense lol. Emotionally they were so focused in trying to please me that I couldn't just talk to them and get to know them and my dumb/baby brain couldn't tell them to chill for a bit so we could just talk instead of making out. It was the most uncomfortable thing. They're a romantic for sure but they were so focused on trying to please me in ways that they not only didn't want to do but also were not interested in doing regardless. We were miserable in our own ways and I had to break it before it got messy. Back to the original story just had to vent to a youtube comment for a sec, you really have to work out boundaries but also those nuances and needs that both people have.

For the last question the person asking could also possibly aro-spec, or maybe even AroAce (Asexual is where you experience little to no sexual attraction, and aromantic is where you experience little to no romantic attraction). As both ace and aro are spectrums, the person asking could fit in anywhere on those spectrums. Or they could just not want a relationship which is completely fine too! And I agree - Asexuality is hardly ever talked about in the media, and I don’t think that I’ve ever seen Aromanticism mentioned outside of two books that were literally focused around an AroAce or Ace main character, with supporting queer characters, with some of them being Ace and/or Aro themselves. (This is coming from an Asexual Biromantic person, so if I hope it’s helpful)

The whole having feelings for a best friend is a difficult one for me. I’ve had multiple “best friends” secretly have deep feelings for me and it always ends with everyone’s feelings getting hurt, and us falling out and never talking again. I think it’s hard to end a friendship but if you’re in love with them, the friendship will never be enough for you and it’ll be too painful to continue. Trust me! And it left me feeling betrayed and like the only reason we were friends was because they were into me… so yeah I don’t recommend it.
@superbob24 Жыл бұрын
Yeah, my problem is I don't get attracted by physical beauty (although I do notice and appreciate it) so I've only gotten crushes on girls in my friend group and I either get friend zoned, find out they aren't single, or rejected when I do make the move and it feels awkward because I start to doubt myself and assume that they are going to think everything I have done with them/want to do with them is because of my crush and not the genuine friendship.
@xxxaragon Жыл бұрын
"And it left me feeling betrayed and like the only reason we were friends was because they were into me… " which is why I never understood the idea of wanting to stay being friends while secretly being in love with the other person. because as you said, to me it would shine a very different light on certain situations in retrospect. e.g. die she/he really give me the best advice about my relationship or was she/he trying to sabotage it?

My biggest red flag is people who disrespect boundaries. I haven't dated much since 2013, but when I did, I wound up in emotionally abusive relationships with women who would threaten to kill any woman that even looked at me. Not surprisingly, it takes a long time to recover from those mentally. So, when I tell someone a boundary and they break it constantly, or they show signs of possessiveness, I immediately clip off the relationship. For green flags, I'd say somebody who is okay with people taking medication. I’m autistic and bipolar, and while medication might not help some people, it’s helped me greatly. So, when I sit down with somebody and the topic comes up and they’re not immediately turning into GigaMac and screaming “FLUSH IT ALL NOW!” Then, I can have a decent amount of respect for that person.

8:13 honestly, i think prom guy’s mistake was going too big. i totally understand wanting to have the perfect, most romantic moment when you ask someone out, but not only did setting up the promposal lose precious time, but you don’t know if she’s into you yet !! if someone i wasn’t into did some HUGE thing with flowers to ask me out, at best i’d be embarrassed for them, and at worst i’d be creeped out. for the future, just ask people out like “hey, i’m interested in you, do you wanna go out sometime?” and you can save the theatrics for later. also, don’t expect her to go out with you. it’s fine to have some hope, but honestly, i’ve had guys be into me in our friendships & then turned them down, and i ALWAYS liked them better after they stopped acting weird around me bc they didn’t think they had a chance anymore. just be her friend. if you want her to be happy, be her friend. maybe she’ll date you one day, maybe she won’t, but you can’t be a good friend to her until you accept the fact that you might have to move on. also, if it helps, the guy i thought i’d marry when i was in high school ended up being a bad match, so all hope isn’t lost for your love life if she never dates you. you’ll find someone else who’s just as perfect, i know it :)

19:24 i think the better term would be aromantic. both asexual and aromantic generally get conflated (usually due to there being mostly aroace people that make up the aro/ace communities), but there is a difference. romanticism is more focused on the relationship aspect of things, so being aromantic just means you aren't really interested in a committed relationship of any kind. being asexual is having little or no interest in sexual activity. there are asexual people who want romantic relationships, and have romantic preferences similar to sexual preferences. there are aromantic people that still enjoy and want to have sex. there's also some asexual people that will have sex with a partner if it's something they are comfortable with, and they're usually doing it to make their partner happy because their partner might not be asexual.

We were texting a lot and spending a lot time together I sincerely loved our friendship, but later on I realized that I'm not in love with her, when I came to visit her and we lived together for about a month. I didn't like kissing her, I didn't enjoy your "funtime in bed" (youtube please don't ban me), so I told her everything, and we broke up. I started seriously falling for someone at the beginning of the year, showed them your videos and they became immediately obsessed. So now watching your videos makes me feel cozy and close to this person.

I’d like to weigh in on the first question (the one about struggling to talk to the opposite gender). I deal with this issue as well, or have dealt with it in the past, and what Ive found is that even if that never changes, it’s ok. That is just a unique trait of you and it’s ok to be a unique individual. Its a matter of being comfortable in your own skin.

Dutch subscriber here! Fries originate from Belgium. Belgium and Netherlands used to be one country so we picked up the best stuff they had: fries. Belgium fries are called Vlaamse friet. They're the tastiest! But the best part about the fries here are the sauces. We've got a lot of combinations of sauces on fries. But I really recommend trying pindasaus (peanut sauce) and Mayo.

For all of those out there seeking for love but not having found it, let me share my mum's experience: I'm a one night stand, and my biological parents were never even in a relationship. My mum raised me as a single kid, and at the ripe age of 37 she met her now husband. They're literally made for each other, and have been together for over a decade. You'll find love in time, perhaps even more so if you stop chasing it.

There really is never any rush to be in a relationship, especially if you’re a queer person. It’s pretty easy to feel like you’re behind or smth is wrong with you when you don’t share similar romantic experiences with your peers. But romantic relationships happen at different rates for everyone. I personally acknowledge that due to being very queer and also having some pretty bad social anxiety, I’m delayed in some ways in my social development. But it’s never been a big deal for me or anyone in my life. It’ll happen when it happens. Just find what brings you joy and focus on that !

I love the frenetic energy y'all have together! Please keep making your sister do videos with you, Gabi! It may not be fully in the spirit of red flags, but my biggest red flag is any racism, sexism, homophobia, transphobia, etc. I don't have the looks to be picky, but I absolutely need to be able to respect someone to be with them. I'd rather stay single forever than date someone I feel is poisoned to people I care about and want rights/respect for. If I'm honest, I think my biggest green flag is a cute face and smile, 'cause that shit goes a long way, but as for a real answer, I like to see someone's creative or intellectual spark/passion. Even if it's not a shared interest, the other person's love for something can draw me in and teach me about something new, and that's a really exciting experience! ... Also, dog-friendly. My dog loves making friends, but she doesn't really know how to give people space without being told. lol

love this video! and for the last question, maybe aromantic instead of (or in addition to) asexual. Aromantic is more about romantic relationships and asexuality is more about sexual attraction. I'm asexual but very much not aromantic, so I can try to answer any questions people have about that!

Great energy between you two, very funny and overall a good video ^^. I would just like to add a couple of things though (if anyone ever reads this and it can be useful): - Asking chat gpt about relationships, queers and psychology will always be bad and generic af, if not plain wrong (also, queer relationships are still relationships, many things are common and you can answer on the "human" part of it and still give good advice, we're not aliens :). Ask friends, close ones or a psy even, the AI is shit for most tasks. - Lesbians being bad at knowing if another gay/bi/pan person is interested in them has became a meme and a joke around the self doubt of "is it really hints?!!", sometimes reaching some preposterous levels of self-gaslighting and/or for ridiculous amounts of time. Next part of that cliché is "if that relationship does kick off, it's then going ultra fast". - Asexual people are more like not really into sex (or under very specific conditions/in specific contexts only). They can still want romance and relationships (sex isn't needed in all relationships ^^). Aromantic people are the ones that may be less/not into wanting any romantic involvement in a "classic" relationship fashion. But even then, there may be exceptions or a different kind of relationship that may work. It's more of a very diverse and interconnected spectrum with a lot of variations and combinations between sexuality, attraction, romance, connection, etc. Anyway, whatever the situation, even if it's scary, the best is always to communicate, be truthful and nice: to communicate honestly about "the thing" will always clear the air and provide guidance for the next step (even if that step is unpleasant/hurts :/), have a nice day! :)

I have liked someone who was in a 3 or so year relationship with someone else in high school and I eventually got together with him a few months after they broke up. I didn't say anything about liking him because I'm shy, but he asked me out anyway. We've been together for 5 years now, so it can happen, but I still wouldn't be absolutely focused on one unattainable person your whole life because that will just keep you miserable.

To the clocktower dude. I am in high school and have been with my girlfriend since June 2nd 2021. We liked each other in year9 and we're now year12s, we knew each other in intermediate/middle school. We both dated around for ages, we talked about it with each other and went on our first date in February of 2021. We dated around for months before we got together and took a long time just casually being together before we finally decided we were ready for a relationship. The point is a lot can happen in a few months and a few years, but don't freak out about it, stay in contact with her and maybe date around a bit. Get some experience and appreciate your friendship before thinking too hard about a potential relationship. If you read this good luck my guy.

I am aromantic guy and also the most awkward person to have a converstation with in the world ever. If I were ever to have a relationship it would probably be for the other person and not for me. (aromantic and asexual are not the same thing. Asexual is you don't get sexual feelings and aromantic is where you don't get romantic feelings)

Right now, my situation isn't great. I'm 18, I recently moved across the country (Colorado to Florida), figured out I am Bi, came out to half of the people I plan to but not the other half yet, have never dated anyone ever because I am not really romantically attracted to women nearly as strongly as to guys (maybe not even at all, still a bit confused, but right now I'm only really romantically into guys), but I didn't know that until recently so I just didn't try with romance or love at all, have no local friends (although this might change soon), no job (with no experience, and extremely limited availability), no car, and I'm not very good at being outgoing. Oh, and after figuring my sexuality out, I realized that I am actually super, super, super interested in a romantic relationship, but don't really know how to handle those feelings because they were locked behind a fog of war... I got a long road ahead, man. But hey, I am hopeful, a lot of these issues should be resolved fairly soon (within the next 6 months), and then I can figure out how to meet people and try actually dating!

No joke... my favorite kind of "first date" (not that I go on those anymore... married circa 2018) is literally "lets go get coffee and talk for a few hours." Not that I wouldn't be able to afford a "real" date... I just like how it's simple. If you don't click, you don't have to pay for dinner or vice versa (or pay for your own dinners). Edit: your sister has a manta mask and I love it. That thing changed my life. I can't imagine sleeping without it Edit 2: literally after I paused the video to comment about that... she starts talking it. Win. Fuck yeah manta

Coworker relationship #1 didn't work out for me. He was super jealous that our manager seemed to appreciate my work more than his, and he took that out on me. He was also insanely jealous of our other coworkers being around me, even though I never associated myself with them unless we were paired to work on a project together. 😂 Coworker relationship #2 (at a different workplace several years later) turned out to be amazing. We both quit working at this store and we are now happily married with 2 kids. 🔥

About 19:25 , Asexual refers to having little to no sexual attraction, the term for having little to no romantic attraction is actually Aromantic. It's a common misconception but the two are not linked and someone can be one but not the other.

Step 1 to doing better at daring is to stop being so concerned with dating. The more pressure and anxiety you create for yourself, the harder it'll be. That's why you always hear people say "I found them when I wasn't looking"
