And we're less related culturally and technologically to people from 1,000 years ago than those people were living back in year 1,00 to their ancestors 1,000 years ago (0AD).

It's actually Mehrauli, on the outskirts of Delhi. Back then, I believe there weren't more than 400k folks living in Delhi. Now, it's one of the worst places to live in thanks to the mighty and glorious population explosion and uncontrolled migration of folks from large parts of India. It's my ancestral area though thankfully, I never lived there.
