well, I suppose the song talks about some kind of inner conflict, like someone being trapped in their thoughts and can't escape. Maybe they feel like they're losing control of their own mind or something. And the whole thing about not wanting to sleep… I guess that could mean they’re struggling with something, and every time they try to sleep, they're just flooded with thoughts that keep them awake. And the part about sharing with silence of the trees... that could be about trying to find peace or something, like connecting with nature, trying to find some kind of calmness. But I don't know, It's the first time I've heard the song.

I absolutely love this song. The main reason? It seems like it’s going one way with the instrumentals at the beginning and then you start signing and BAM! I'm in love with Paperwork and Memento Mori. Most songs of Fish in a Birdcage sound very fresh and unique even though there's quite some style which is recognizable in each Rule. I absolutely love how the singer adds such vivid emotions into the speech... I always have a feeling that I'm sitting and chillind next to a friend with a guitar and I'm listening to his stream of consciousness. Memento Mori for me is not a song that I would listen all the time on the background, say in a car or during work, instead, it's one I would kick back, close my eyes and listen to, with full attention, and let my mind flow along with the notes.
