Well in battle no. But you can rebuild your older ships to have more elevation on their guns.
@codycannon8507 Жыл бұрын
@vojtechslezak4553 The USS Texas literally did that. It bombarded the landing at Normandy, resupplied, came back, nearly beached the ship to keep engaging, enemy out of range, proceeded to flood all its blister tanks on its starboard side to change the angle of its guns to get more range to keep engaging the enemy.

The game REALLY needs a dark mode imo. There's a lot to love but my god does it burn the retinas. Also yeah better logging, after battle statistics, the ability to see what the hell is going on so you can tell what was good or bad about your designs.
@krisrock3975 Жыл бұрын
On Logging: you can read all ship logs (enemy logs too) in the after action report. And while in battle, you can look at all modifers to firerate and accuracy. While in the after battle screen you can also turn on the movement charts to see there vor example the enemy cvs hid. But, all this informations are hidden 3 menus deep, so good luck finding them.

Probably the most interesting thing about rules the waves, while it has barely changed since its inception, with each new game the have added a new era. First game was 1890s to just before Aircraft Carriers, Second game introduced Aircraft Carriers and Air Combat, And subs. Now Rule the Waves 3 has added THE MISSILE AGE! WELCOME TO THE COLD WAR BOYS! Of course we have to actually GET their first but ya know, its not about Destination its about the Journey.

As an advice for new players I recomend at the start of the game to build 36 KE (24 colonial convoy escorts and 12 mineswepers) their role is wartime convoy escort. And to change difficulty level to "Captain's mode" it gives you ability to manualy launch torpedoes.
@lordbaysel3135 Жыл бұрын
That's a bit much, slowly building up corvette forces with batches of about 3 (with 1st one possibly slightly higher if you start with colonies) should allow you to build some decent frontline ships, and i would say that having fast scout CL with every possible torpedo tube, oversized CA for duels in cruiser engagements and decent B that hits dock limit is your top priority, as you rarely have decent legacy fleet (at least that seems to work for me in 1890 start)

I still remember probably my greatest battle in Rule the Waves 2. It was around 1920, I was playing as Imperial Germany and doing pretty good for myself, the Kaiserliche Marine was a formidable force to be sure, not as large as Britain or America but I felt pretty confident in fighting France or Russia. War then broke out with Russia and so I naturally sent the entire High Seas Fleet into the Baltic Sea besides some old third line units I had left behind in Germany that were hopelessly obsolete and in need of either refits or replacements and scrapping. Overkill, some might say but, you see, this Russia was actually remarkably built up, having not lost a war they were in due to being on the winning side, and actually had a formidable force that could pose a serious challenge to the German Empire, probably being tied with Japan for fourth largest fleet after I murdered the French Navy. There were some skirmishes, some convoy raids, about what you would expect, and then a massive fleet battle took place where it seemed like the entire navies of both sides decided to go at it. The initial battle... did not go well. The Kaiserliche Marine, being trained to have better gunnery, did good, but the Russians also had good gunnery and managed to get off some very successful torpedo strikes against my battle line, damaging my battleships very heavily. None of them sunk, but it was clear that for them to remain on the frontlines would only invite their destruction. Because of this, I had decided to give Russia the tactical win, quit the field, and retreat to Germany rather than take losses in terms of ships that were hard to replace. However, first, I had to break off from the battle, something that was made much more difficult due to how much speed my battleships had lost and how the Russians would easily be able to catch up. Seeing no other choice, I ordered my battlecruisers, which were still in good condition, to reenact the death ride of the battlecruisers at Jutland and charge the Russian ships. This maneuver actually worked at forcing the Russians to break off, and my fleet slipped away, taking advantage of the fact the sun was quickly setting and setting a course for Germany. There was just one small problem, the way the battle had shaped up my fleet was closer to Russian Finland than Germany and the entire Russian navy was somewhere out there between us and home. Now, I had also trained the Kaiserliche Marine in night fighting, but with the damage sustained I did not want to run the risk of fighting the Russians. It was best to accept the losses and come back later. So a course was set with occasional alterations in the hopes that would lessen my chances of running to the Russians under the cover of night. Did that work? Heck no, it turns out I had managed to sail the entire High Seas Fleet right into the middle of the Imperial Russian Navy and I mean that I did not see them until I was practically right on top of them. It was at that moment that round two of the battle began, and let me tell you, it was a battle that was horrifying in its brutality. You had battleships and battlecruisers firing their guns at each other at ranges where any and all armor was completely irrelevant compared to their big guns. Scratch that, it was at ranges where armor was not only irrelevant but it was more a danger to the crews than anything else due to all the shrapnel that it would cause. You had destroyers trying to fire off what was left of their torpedoes at point blank range before getting near instantly killed by the secondaries of every other ship and light and heavy cruisers duking it out around the battleships and battlecruisers. You even had rival battleships crashing into each other and I can only assume firing off their guns at point blank range in a desperate attempt to sink their opponent. I like to imagine that the crews that were not busy with damage control or keeping the ship fighting were using sidearms to shoot each other given the range of this fight. That was how close to one another these ships were fighting at. It was a battle to the death under the cover of night with both sides doing everything they could to win and the entire naval war would be decided here, at this moment. Finally, the Russians had to call it quits, they lost all their battlecruisers and several battleships, many of them to magazine detonation, and so they had to break off and managed to extract themselves, retreating towards Finland. The High Seas Fleet was in scarcely better condition, what battleships that were not sunk were horribly damaged and at the risk of sinking, it was clear that the every ship still standing would probably have to go into drydock. Feeling like this was more than could be ever asked of the High Seas Fleet, I decided not to pursue and instead slowed the ships to a crawl to not make the flooding worse and waited for the time to finally run out as we had gone overtime. I forget the final scores but I remember the number being rather large and it counting as a minor Germany victory according to the game.

Max dock size is capped, gun placement is limited and it won't spread main battery fire across several targets, so such megazord wouldn't be able to fight whole fleet while costing more than conventional squadron. Not talking about spending more time in repair than on station. And even if it would kind of work in one war, would get swarmed by bombers or SSM in next conflict.
