I expect Metroid Prime 4 to be pitched as a big pillar game for Switch 2. I can see a Switch version and a souped of Switch 2 version that showcases the giant leap the Switch 2 will be. 4K/60, perhaps improved visuals, maybe a few bells and whistles like raytraced reflections off of Samus's suit or something. Either way I think Nintendo wants this to be a big deal and a hype piece for Switch 2. I am a little surprised we never got Metroid Prime 2 & 3 though. Even a double pack of those like Pikmin 1 & 2 would have been great just to have the whole trilogy available. I guess it's still possible though.

What I think is gonna happen, (not saying cross-gen is a bad idea) is it’ll release on switch 1 first and then after switch 2 comes out, we get a next-gen patch if you play it on that. Similar to how Ghost of Tsushima and Doom Eternal, were PS4 games, (releasing the same year the PS5 did) and they all got next-gen patches.

If Metroid Prime: 4 is a cross gen release it will greatly benefit from the Switch 2 hype as opposed to the OG Switch. Proof? Look at how massively Twilight Princess sold on the Wii and how Breath Of The Wild sold on the OG Switch. I just hope they pick a good release date for MP4 where it doesn’t have to face fierce competition from bigger 1st party Nintendo franchises

I think Prime 4 should will release same day and be the launch title for Switch 2, because even though a LOT of people will buy switch 2 in its first few days and couple weeks, most people wont have switch 2 yet, releasing 3d Mario at launch will only be exclusive to switch 2. Interest in the new console will skyrocket, so the gap between the people that will buy MP4 on Switch 1 will diminish quickly if it comes out later. Us hardcore are gonna be most of the units of Switch 2 and Prime 4 for the first few months.

Prepare yourself for the rumor mill! Metroid Prime 4 in April alongside Switch 2. Unique cartridge and digital free download will be available for the Switch 2 release a few months later. Massive upgrade will bring new game content and draw in player base to Switch 2 (multiplayer and online ranking/interactivity for MP4 available only for Switch 2)

Here is the thing, Mario Kart will be day 1 release for the new console, so the second game has to stand up for itself next to Mario Kart and not be overshadowed by it for a day 1 new console release to work for a game. I don't think Metroid Prime 4 can withstand the gigantic shadow of Mario Kart despite being completely different audience appeal. Pokemon Legends Z-A can do this because it is Pokemon.

I promise I’m not an insider BUT how would you feel if Day one Mario Kart 9 players could receive a Samus space ship Kart, Samus Mii 2 Helmet, and Metroid Glider for also playing Metroid Prime 4 on either their Nintendo Account or directly from a Switch 2 Console? Do you think it would be unfair for other players to have exclusive kart pieces even if those kart pieces were akin to layered “skins” in other games series?

True before BOTW Twilight Princess was the best selling Zelda Game at least roughly 10 million or a bit more which isn't bad, but that's mainly because TP had different Versions, you have the GameCube Version, the Wii Version, and even an HD Remaster on the Wii U.

10:50 the sales of EoW that we know are only of the game's first 4 days, up to the end of September. We don't really know the actual sales, but I wouldn't be surprised if it's double what we know or more by the next sales update.

Pack in title bundle with switch 2 plx. Even if there is only a switch 1 version we dont know yet of the switch 2 will improve framerate / graphics somehow. If this is the case i can see it selling well. If not it prob can be lost by the hype of the switch 2. Prob better buy it, outside a great game could become a sought after game in 10 years.

Metroid Prime 4 will be Switch only. The benefits for playing on a new console would be IF the game has a dynamic resolution, then it should play at its hard cap highest resolution for the new console and the game would load faster, but that part does not matter because of the metroid doors hide loading screens anyways. The only case scenario for a second version of Metroid Prime 4 would be if there is some brand new aspect to the next console and they wanted to take advantage of that aspect; i.e. the next console is a dual-screen console and they wanted to utilize the second screen, you got to have a second version of the same game for that. I could see Metroid Prime 4 only having the Switch version, but on the same day release as the next console with Mario Kart 8 More Deluxe on that same day, the problem with this is that Mario Kart might overshadow Metroid Prime 4 so much that it makes it sales flop as a result. Pokemon Legends Z-A being released Switch only on the same day as a Mario Kart 8 More Deluxe would not have this issue since Pokemon is a giga-IP and can stand on its own side-by-side to Mario Kart.

Unless they specify up front that they’re doing this. But even still, I can’t imagine them doing this at all. If it’s gonna be a cross platform game, the one on the switch 2 will run at a higher frame rate, or higher res, but it’ll be the same cartridge

I don’t think a cross-gen release of Metroid Prime 4 would hurt sales at all. People who don’t have a Switch 2 yet and don’t care about the graphical differences can still enjoy the game on the Switch and have the option to experience a great enhancement later if they choose to upgrade. Meanwhile, those who have upgraded get to experience the game at its best. It’s a win-win. As for the timing, I think the Switch 2 is more likely to launch in March or April. Metroid Prime 4, though, feels like it would come later in the year, maybe August or September. That would give Nintendo some breathing room and make Prime 4 a major release when there’s less competition, so it won’t compete with any big Switch 2 launch titles but will still be within the launch window. Overall, a cross-gen release makes sense to me.

Nin needs to play it smart. Make one version of MP4 that plays both on the systems & when played on Switch 2, then you'll unlock increase quality graphics, etc, on the system when it releases. Basically, it's almost like how holding down the B button on selected GameCube games to unlock 480p mode at the time. I want sales of MP4 to be stronger & not be split up. Yeah Zelda has done that formula but I think now Nin doesn't need to do that again when they have the 64GB they have yet to use so these are options for them to make it happen.

No way would Nintendo release Mario and Metroid on the same day. IF Metroid is a launch title, it is THE launch title. It will be accompanied by smaller titles like Snipperclips on the OG Switch, but Metroid would be the big launch title, with a killer app a month or so later.

If Nintendo is smart (and they totally are), MP4 will be playable on both systems, the same cartridge I mean, if we assume the Switch 2 uses the same cartridges (again, I believe it will), but the MP4 port for Switch 2 will have better resolution/textures/performance! And no, MP4 will not be overshadowed, it will add even more variety to the launch line-up, if it releases on launch day. Knowing Nintendo, they release games strategically and will place it on the correct path. Anyway, I believe Metroid Prime will turn into a killer-app franchise. I hope it will!

I think it can only be good for Metroid. Like Zelda with Wii and Switch, it helped grow the franchise immensely. It’s only gonna be bad if it’s paired up with a Mario title. I know many want a Mario series launch title, but I think it’s worth delaying that to the holidays and putting a spotlight on Metroid. If “Metroid” isn’t the system seller, at least we can guarantee available units on launch lol

For the 365 days first year release predictions: Day 1: Mario Kart 8 More Deluxe and another Nintendo IP that can withstand Mario Kart being released that same day. Holiday Game: Big New 3D Sandbox Open-Ended Mario. Hopes for: Kid Icarus Uprising 2 ARMS 2 New Fire Emblem New Xenoblade or New IP by Monolithsoft New Star Fox that is open-ish world that recreates the concept of Star Fox 2 in a modern way, including brining back the standard poodle character. New 3D Donkey Kong after all of these years later. New F-Zero that is open world with a big distant futuristic city to explore and a massive rocky and desert open outskirts to go zoom zoom around. Ice Climbers revival where it is more of a puzzle-platformer with an unique way to do action-combat with the two characters and you are climbing up a giant mountain in a linear with open-areas free to explore style game where the open-areas are creatively themed to each other. Will Happen: Some kind of game by Ubisoft that will bomb horribly because it will have very ugly characters and be super woke, unless Nintendo is very hands on controlling to that game to redeem it.

Help it. Prime 4 will be cross-gen by virtue of backwards compatibility. I would also expect most major games Nintendo releases next year to also have some Switch 2 related enhancements. Likely it will be some show piece and an example of how cross-gen releases can work. Nintendo doesn't need Mario for for early year console launches. People buying consoles in April are early adopters. They can roll out Mario for the holidays when most normies get their consoles, just like they did with Odyssey.

Nintendo with the Switch figured out how to do Nintendo IP releases. I don't think we need to worry about them doing 2 or more Nintendo IP within the same month. What I'm afraid they haven't learned is releasing an exclusive Nintendo IP only on the older console when people are ready to move on. Practically, the reason i believe Metroid Samus Returns did so poorly. That Remake shouldn't have dropped on 3DS. It should have been on Switch or both really.

One issue I see with this game, is that the only prime game on switch is the first one. Which is amazing, and it looks and plays so good. But people might not wanna buy the 4th one because they haven’t played the other three, and let’s be real, can’t play the 2nd or the 3rd at all.

I think being on Switch vs. the next gen. console is really inconsequential to sales for MP4. People have wanted this game for a long, long time. That said, I don't think we're going to be seeing either scenario. I think MP4 will be for both consoles.
