I miss 80s-style action movie box art. Also, cover art screams action novels. Remember when action novels were a whole profitable genre?

I've been surprised how those novels have gone away (or moved online), I remember in the mid to late 00's when I would pick up various post-apocalyptic novels from charity shops cheap, now the nearest you'd get would be a Jack Reacher novel, and that's not for me.

Probably the most realistic military RPG that's not Phoenix command.

Pheonix Command, now there's a game I'll need to cover sometime. :)

Great video! Don’t listen to the trolls in the comments about your original video Twilight 2000 video. This is my favorite KZbin channel for RPGs and you always do a fantastic job.

Thank you, that's very much appreciated. I'm petty enough that I did this video because of the comments in the original one, and I dug in my little heels and refused to budge. I'll keep on liking Twilight 2k despite their opinions that I shouldn't.

And what about the automatic fire? Rules have special procedure for the automatics fire with the recoil calculation.
@RPGGamer2 жыл бұрын
These Rules Breakdowns are really just the absolute basics of the system, just to get someone through the first couple of sessions of stuff. I tend to miss out lots of things, because otherwise the videos would be far too long. So in this one the Auto fire rules got skipped.

Great video! My buddy just invited me to play and I am very excited! If you wouldn't mind, I was hoping you could answer a question for me. On page 202, there is a rule about using a weapon in each hand but it only seems to show the detriments. Are there any benefits to doing this that I might be missing other than just doubling up on ammo before needing to reload? I'm hoping to play a character similar to the punisher where I fight tactical most of the time but once in a while, I bust that extra M1 1911 out in my offhand!

From what I remember, the recoil from firing is by the bullet no matter the weapon. So the advantage of firing two weapons instead of firing twice from the same weapon would be just down to having more ammunition. Although I can't find the exact rule, the Designers Notes section at the back of the book talks about why they decided to do it this way under "fire combat" (page 276 in my copy).
@jordanpease3329 Жыл бұрын
@@RPGGamer Thank you for getting back to me. My GM ultimately decided to calculate recoil separately to handle it. After reading up on the Reddit it seems like that's what most players are doing so we will see how it works. :-)

I have one question about character generation. If the rules tells me to put 1 level in melee combat. Melee says there are what called cascade skills one being unarmed and one being armed. Are we to choose one to put the 1 level into or do we 1 level for each of the cascade skills?
@RPGGamer2 жыл бұрын
Didn't know this one off the top of my head. Page 21 of the rulebook, Cascade skills you must choose which of the Cascade skills you put the skill point into. However the other skills within that skill get half a point. So if you put your skill point into Unarmed, then your armed would also go up but only by one half point. Hope that helps.

It should be skill + attribute. Some tasks may be attribute only, but the way you are showing a person with 3 (pretty good rank) in a skill have a high percentage to fail that roll on a D10 most of the time. Like swimming skill of 2...if you don't add the CON attribute, your character will likely fail and drown before the adventure even starts...Doing any action like that makes the roll impossible when the action may be easy/average.
@RPGGamer2 жыл бұрын
The rules are pretty clear (page 134, "The referee must decide which skill _ or_ attribute is important to performance of the task.", also "For ease of description... skills and attributes are collective called assets." which is followed at the end of the page by " Sometimes more than one asset can be applied to a single task.") that most of the time it's just one skill or attribute. Doing it your way makes things easier, and I can see why house ruling it so its a more heroic game, rather than the rough tough post holocaust game it is would be appealing.

Very intrigued to see how Fria Ligan do with this one!

I was worried at first, but they've been making all the right noises lately and it sounds as if the game is in good hands, but we won't know for certain until it comes out.

Thank you. Can you compare this to other post-apocalyptic games, especially The Morrow Project?
@RPGGamer2 жыл бұрын
I don't have The Morrow Project, but Twilight 2000 is definitely more of a military simulation, as it really glosses over the effects of Radiation, diseases, etc. More being about the struggle against the remaining militaries and other survivors of the war.

In which occasions could the gamemaster ask for an attribute + skill roll? a roll adding attribute + skill sounds very intuitive and natural to me.
@RPGGamer3 жыл бұрын
Usually only when having the two has a specific advantage. So for example, if there's a mechanical problem where having the physical strength to overcome it, would the GM allow the skill to be added to Strength. But normally it's just the skill, otherwise smart players would find a way of talking their highest attribute into every skill roll. "Oh it's a reconnaissance roll, well I work out the best point to spot the enemies, so I add my super high Intelligence."
