Have 3-4 months of savings in your savings account before you move out. It'll disappear quickly, especially if you'll be furnishing your new place. Make sure your car will be running for a good long time before you move out. If you don't know how to fix things yourself, it'll get expensive quickly when/if it breaks. Learn how to cook before you move out since your parents likely cover the costs of food and cookware for you and will appreciate you cooking things in the house. It's not crazy hard, but it can add a lot of life stress if you aren't prepared. The freedom will feel amazing. Good luck!

If it’s not too bad at your home situation I would recommend to stay as long as you can to save up money, but if it’s urgent definitely live with roommates and try to live in a neighborhood with a good transit system to access jobs, groceries, etc. You can also use car sharing apps if necessary or mix that with public transit

You can put it in a TFSA or a HISA. If it's in a regular savings account you're going to lose money each year because of inflation.

Have 6 months emergency fund. Open Roth IRA. Invest rest in VTI & VXUS. Those are safer ones for retirement.

Definitely learn about the stock market! Pick a broker (I use E*TRADE) that doesn’t charge too many fees and just start putting small amounts into companies you think will do well. You’ll learn how to use the broker site and figure out what your risk tolerance is. Just invest in companies you like and you think will do well :)

As an Australian, it's really interesting hearing about how important credit is in America, and how you build credit by using credit cards and taking out loans (that you pay off). Here, having a credit card decreases the amount you are eligible to borrow from the bank. Even using things like afterpay and zip pay also decrease how much banks are willing to lend you

What I would love to know and would be helpful - how do you make decisions on what stocks to pick, both in terms of buying and selling (what do you read, what data do you research, what numbers do you need to see), same with bitcoins/altcoins, AND how do you prepare for a stock market crash (how can you make money off of it, how can you prepare so it doesn't kill your investments, etc). An episode with Joe, Nikki, Steve, etc. on either JK, STDY, or even here on this topic would be amazing (and soon if you're up for it as the signs seem to be pointing to a crash.....).

I laughed at when Nikki Blades pointed out that some parents dont teach their sons. Hahaha I was in a LDR thing before I got married to my husband, and so now that I live with him I just discovered how little did his parents taught him about everything around the house. Like literally, his mom would still ask me to do things for her son like “why didnt you teach your kids these stuff and you expect me to do these for them when they are all grown up!” Cuz apparently, my mother-in-law was just caging her kids and not letting do stuff eg. making their own appointments to the doctor or shiz. Im just so hyped up cuz girl, even with my husband’s younger brother I had to do shiz for him whenever he sleeps over like doing his laundry cuz their mom asked me to!!! He is a grown ass 21y/o degree holder boy
