Driving the van for the college soccer team to a game. CD player and guys had their music. Told them to pass up whatever they wanted to listen to. They put it in and they said "play track 4, it's the only good song on the album." So we did. Another CD came up and actually had 2 tracks worth a listen. A couple of more, same thing. I finally said "guys, there must be an album that is listenable to all the way through". Don't think we found one🙃 Guess we were spoiled having groups that could put together 40+ minutes of great music on one album.

Steve Hackett: Was für ein wunderbarer Mensch! Hier stimmt einfach alles.

I am not a fan of the pop period, but remember that music is not just the music, but also who you were and who you were with when your first heard it. Music has a special power of evoking memories and nostalgia, the feeling of being there again. Somewhere out there are people who met in a club, and their first dance was to that era of Genesis. Maybe to “Yes West” as well! Those folks are probably half a generation younger than most of the fans of Hackett-era Genesis. Those people will have strong feelings about that music. Not our feelings, but I can understand that they would have those feelings.
