I lived in Trinidad 2 years, they don't wear grass skirts, that's Hawaii! ;-) Cute act!

I guess they associate anything tropical with Hawaii. This calypso was actually stolen by the Andrew Sisters and there was a copyright court battle over it, with the Calypsonian who created it getting a small settlement, nothing compared to the amount of money the Andrew Sisters made.

You know they could have just performed the song on stage and it would have been great but they decided to have some fun and I really liked what they did. It took the live performance to the next level. I enjoy when people do new and interesting things sometimes with their stage shows. Good stuff.

A great song, and a great trio. But way too much nonsense on the stage.

The show isn't merely singing numbers, it is also a "stage show". They don't do that sort of thing with all the numbers. Just to mix things up a bit. The audience reaction is a clue to how well this segment of the show worked.
