Many people can hardly taste the mint aromas with lightly muddled mint, if you’re wondering. And many places, mint has hardly any aroma left once it reaches the grocery store.

Beautifully made Mojito. I dislike soda added. I am so glad you didn't add that! Topping the cocktail off with more crushed ice is gorgeous and I love the amount of lovely fresh mint used. I never knew grenadine was a pomegranate syrup. I always thought it was cherry for some reason.
@CorySchoolland6 жыл бұрын
That's because most widely available commercial grenadines are flavored with artificial cherry flavoring, for some reason. Don't buy a grenadine unless the first ingredient is pomegranate juice :) (Or make it yourself with Pom and sugar... 1:2 or 2:3)

Is it intentional to have 5 ml less of the lime and simple in the daquri cocktail when compared to the mojito because its served up like a martini and should be more rum forward? And the mojito being more like a mixed drink tall on the rocks so its more on the easy refreshing side?

Do you guys think the El Presidente would work better or worse with Bacardi light rum instead of the Havana Club?
@stevegreedo56874 жыл бұрын
I use something called Bacardi Superior for my El Presidente. I think that's the light rum version. Doesn't bother me a bit. I love it. The real challenge is getting the grenadine just right. If you get that cheap stuff from the supermarket then your drink might come out thin and bland.

I'd like to try Mai Tai but I can't buy orgeat in my country, absolutely no store sells it. Would it be ok to substitute it with a liqueur like Amaretto or Frangelico?
@CorySchoolland6 жыл бұрын
I wouldn't recommend it, since those are liqueurs and orgeat is a syrup. I would recommend making your own "quick and dirty" orgeat at home with natural, unsweetened almond milk (if available in your country... it's a heck of a lot easier than making the milk yourself). Make a 2:1 simple of sugar and almond milk, cool, then add a few drops each of almond extract, rose blossom water, and rose water (the effect should be subtle). It will keep in the freezer for a long time. If that's still not an option, just sub in simple syrup and add a drop of almond extract. before shaking with crushed ice. Cheers

As a former liquor store manager, just use Everclear if you can find it. If not, then you'll just need to concentrate any neutral spirit.
@CorySchoolland6 жыл бұрын
The original recipe calls for Lemon Hart 151. Direct subs would be Hamilton 151 or Plantation OFTD. There are other 151s around; you can use them in a pinch, but the flavor won't be as rich. DO NOT use Everclear.

Cocktail Idea , I think it kinda resembles a Mojito or such , I muddled Mint leaves with a few drops of water and 1tsp (teaspoon) of Brownsugar (although if One was smart , a Brown sugar simple syrup would work, I did try it with 1.5 tsp of Brownsugar, but I love a sweeter drink so take that with a pinch of salt / sugar) and added the mixture with 60ml of Appletons Jamaican Rum (if it exists I dont know the name) if it doesnt im still workin on a name , I was thinking a Jamaican Muddle or something like that
