I choose to love you in silence… For in silence, I find no rejection, I choose to love you in loneliness… For in loneliness no one owns you but me, I choose to adore you from a distance… For distance will shield me from pain, I choose to kiss you in the wind… For the wind is gentler than my lips, I choose to hold you in my dreams… For in my dreams, you have no end.
--
Yesterday I was clever, so I wanted to change the world. Today I am wise, so I am changing myself.
--
This place is a dream. Only a sleeper considers it real. Then death comes like dawn, and you wake up laughing at what you thought was your grief.
--
Jalāl ad-Dīn Muhammad Rūmī (Persian: جلال‌الدین محمد رومی), also known as Jalāl ad-Dīn Muhammad Balkhī (جلال‌الدین محمد بلخى), Mevlânâ/Mawlānā (مولانا, "our master"), Mevlevî/Mawlawī (مولوی, "my master"), and more popularly simply as Rumi (30 September 1207 - 17 December 1273), was a 13th-century Persian poet, Hanafi faqih, Islamic scholar, Maturidi theologian, and Sufi mystic originally from Greater Khorasan in Greater Iran. Rumi's influence transcends national borders and ethnic divisions: Iranians, Tajiks, Turks, Greeks, Pashtuns, other Central Asian Muslims, and the Muslims of the Indian subcontinent have greatly appreciated his spiritual legacy for the past seven centuries. His poems have been widely translated into many of the world's languages and transposed into various formats. Rumi has been described as the "most popular poet" and the "best selling poet" in the United States.
Like other mystic and Sufi poets of Persian literature, Rumi's poetry speaks of love which infuses the world. Rumi's teachings also express the tenets summarized in the Quranic verse which Shams-e Tabrizi cited as the essence of prophetic guidance: "Know that ‘There is no god but He,’ and ask forgiveness for your sin" (Q. 47:19). In the interpretation attributed to Shams, the first part of the verse commands the humanity to seek knowledge of tawhid (oneness of God), while the second instructs them to negate their own existence. In Rumi's terms, tawhid is lived most fully through love, with the connection being made explicit in his verse that describes love as "that flame which, when it blazes up, burns away everything except the Everlasting Beloved."
Rumi believed passionately in the use of music, poetry and dance as a path for reaching God. For Rumi, music helped devotees to focus their whole being on the divine and to do this so intensely that the soul was both destroyed and resurrected. It was from these ideas that the practice of whirling Dervishes developed into a ritual form. His teachings became the base for the order of the Mevlevi, which his son Sultan Walad organised. Rumi encouraged Sama, listening to music and turning or doing the sacred dance. In the Mevlevi tradition, samāʿ represents a mystical journey of spiritual ascent through mind and love to the Perfect One. In this journey, the seeker symbolically turns towards the truth, grows through love, abandons the ego, finds the truth and arrives at the Perfect. The seeker then returns from this spiritual journey, with greater maturity, to love and to be of service to the whole of creation without discrimination with regard to beliefs, races, classes and nations.
Here are a collection of short poetic phrases from Rumi done in the form of a meditation.

Rumi transcends religion, yes. However, he made me understand my relationship with God in a different way. I have a religious family around too focused, almost preoccupied in the outer. You see Allah then as just a master to fear. With sufi teachings like Rumi, you see Him as Benevolent and Merciful and undertake the concept of surrender to His plan instead of trying to be a control freak thinking your plans will always work, whereas His plans may be better, to understand the purpose of pain. Rumi makes you understand religion as a portal to spirituality, not as a rigid and dogmatic code of conduct. Thanks Brian ❤️

Keep pushing, sister, until there is no attachment left in you. Until there is nothing to be identified with. Like Rumi, Krishnamurti (Jiddu) is one who brings the light but more recently. Perhaps you want to take a dive into his teachings. Very beautiful, too.

I didn’t know Rumi until I was in Konya Turkey, visiting his mausoleum and what message I got first was “ what you seek is seeking you”. Something about that visit connected me spiritually. This is also how I found this in you tube and it brought tears in my eyes when I listened to it. Thank you.

I'll meet you there, where Silence can be heard, meet you there as where you were searching, I've searched and found you in Rumi's heart, where we live eternity, ecstasy of pain, grief and regret, joy of being grateful, even prayers those were never been answered rather ignored. Love is the language of God and silence is everywhere and we are connected without threads, the mystic silence of Rumi's words.

I'm trying to imagine how torturing was the life for the Starseeds back then, who were trying to survive in a world of total ignorance and darkness. (I'm glad I don't remember mine). And I'm so happy to be alive NOW - in a much enlightened era for humanity.

Mohammad Jalaludin Balkhi is his real name, he is popular in the west as Rumi. Nobody in the west calls him Rumi. He was born in Balkh- today’s Afghanistan. His original language was Parsi or Parti, both means the same. The country was called Khurasan at that time.

Thank you for your videos, I love listening to you. I am just providing this information as I have always been interested in his Poems and also, I am born in the same place. I read them in Parsi/ Farsi but it’s pleasant to listen to them in English too. He was born in Balkh but moves to Konya-Turkey, at the age of 12 with his family as Khurasan was attacked by Chengiz Khan at that time, this is the reason some think he was a Turk.
