'Tape-shaggers'....yup that about sums me up. TBH, all my analogue gear has now gone. I'm left with an AKAI MPC Key61 and a mega Quiet PC setup which means I'll never look at another tape machine again. It was fun while it lasted. Another great video for the people still dabbling. In fact, this machine looks so much like the TASCAM 688 I last looked at, the layout of boards etc. Keep fixing!

I've got an MPC live, I'm still learning to use it. It's clunkier than a DAW but less options and no facility to check social media more than compensates. Thanks for watching

Hey thank you for making teardowns of all of these cassette recorders. I have a Fostex XR3 recorder that has rewinding issues. Replied - the shorter belt doesn't look short enough, it's saggy.

You can use the stop button to close the tape door. It saves the mechanism

Hi brother the rec button on my Akai mg614 is not working. Is it a common problem on these machines? Can it be that the plastic piece behind the button is broken? Best

I have one thats broken any suggestions what I can do to save it or is it junk ? It turns on but doesn't turn the cassette

I just found the power chord for my AKAI MG615 and it appears to be an "elliptical" 7A 125V (part number KAWASAKI KS-18B) The original chord was brown (rubber?) whatever they were made of then. Replacements seem very easy to find. Many of the replacements are "notched" and the original is flat on the sides (you'll see what I mean) so the notched ones should work fine too I was able easily search them out. I hope this helps
