SRV doesn’t get enough credit for his voice. I guess being the greatest guitar player of all time kinda overshadows everything else he did.

I love the way he delivers this song. Stevie is not only the best guitarist but also has a super voice. Full of emotion and punch. It’s never boring to watch and listen to him. 🥰❤️

There will never be enough words to describe how amazing Stevie was, but lets not forget his band, they were incredible too, especially Chris 'Whipper' Layton on the drums, man just listen to that rhythm he has going during Stevie's solo from 2:30 on.. amazing.

It's such a gift to be able to watch Stevie play on u- tube! He was so very talented, in every aspect. His skill with his guitar's, and his voice was spot on. It's like his instrument was a part of himself. I'm a major fan of him, and his band. Tommy Shannon, Chris Layton, and Reese Wynans. Y'all were a powerhouse of talent. Thank you all!!!

Stevie Ray Vaughan had the best album and songs Willie the wimp dirty pool live 1982 from Montreux jazz Festival the crowd sucked booing a young blues guitarist of Stevie he didn't let his blues music stop he should of wrote different instead same songs but he wanted to live on. Change it is a good song and Cold shot What Steve Miller band vs double Trouble in battle of the blues festival would of change history of the world of peace wish that happened but could be amazing.

If only we could turn back, the hand's of time. If only Jimmie, would have asked his little brother, to get out of that helicopter as well. The "if only 's", could go on and on. However, Stevie left us, with a part of his heart, and soul. I'm grateful to be able to enjoy his musical abilities on u-tube. It's a real blessing!

@Sly6035 He never actually got around to playing his prototype. It was gonna be when he was on the Tonight Show in June of 1990. Fender presented him with three prototypes, they settled on having the cursive letter engraved into the pickguard, and that's what the signature SRV guitars are today. He liked them, gave them his best wishes but he never played any of them live. The guitar he is playing here is a Jimi Hendrix Prototype. Only four of these are known to exist too!!

Change the song title from “Willie the Pimp” to “Willie the Wimp”, and they let it on the radio. Great tune. Sounds like he’s having technical issues with his guitar sound in this version. He’s still a total pro about though, as always.
@gregsager2062
@gregsager2062 2 жыл бұрын
Songwriters Bill Carter and Ruth Ellsworth changed nothing, nor did SRV when he covered the song. There was no "Willie the Pimp". There was only Willie "the Wimp" Stokes, and he was no purveyor of prostitutes. Rather, he was a drug dealer and gambler, just like his father "Flukey" Stokes, the biggest and richest drug kingpin on Chicago's South Side and the man who sent his son off to his final reward in the song's titular casket.
