Rumtek Monastery, also known as the Dharma Chakra Centre, is one of the most popular attractions in Sikkim. It's also the largest and most significant monastery in the state, founded by the ninth Karmapa Lama, Wangchuk Dorje, in the 16th century. It was rebuilt in the 1960s and became the seat of the Karmapa Lama. Today, this place holds deep religious meaning for Tibetan Buddhists, especially those of the Kagyu sect.
