I've done the Roosevelt tram when I was younger as I have family that live on the island. I recommend to take after the work rush so around 10am or 11am. It's actually quick and Roosevelt island is a nice gem with some scary history (mental health ward). Grrat for photos and picnics during the warm seasons. Mainly residential with stores and some colleges have dorms there.

I definitely agree with working/studying from home and being “cozy”. last march i was studying online and my mental health was literally non-existent. it took me a really bad seasonal depression to realize i needed to go out more xD but so happy you’re taling care of yourself and not making the same mistake as i did 💕

The Roosevelt Island tram just takes you directly to Roosevelt Island. It’s actually not that bad and the ride is pretty short. Simply use your metro card and you can check out the Island which has a nice park with a great view.

I understand the claustrophobic fear about the Roosevelt Island tram. It is actually a very short ride, I was able to find an open spot in front of the window and just stood there looking straight out at the view completely ignoring my potential claustrophobia. And the view of the city from Roosevelt Island is totally worth it! Def check it out!

Go to Rosevelt Island! It’s cute! It’s pretty residential but there’s this building called the octagon that used to be an insane asylum. There’s also a light house at the north end of the island which is pretty.

Roosevelt Island is a hidden gem of this city. My boyfriend and I go over there to escape and get a peaceful walk/date in. I highly HIGHLY recommend!!! And I personally like the tram, but can see why you’d be scared! There is a train that goes that way (I think the F?), if you still wanted to check it out. Go to the Panorama Room for a skyline view and cocktails!!! Sorry for the long comment, I love it there hahaha

Such a good call making yourself get out of the house like that! The seasonal depression is real man. Also, I just want to say--I cannot recommend enough splurging on a really high quality LONG down puffer type coat for the NYC winter, it's been really mild so far but it can get absolutely brutal with the wind and the only way to not suffer is to have really good winter gear, haha. I'm scared for you and Alex's California born and raised selves once it drops below 20 😅

Roosevelt island tram isn’t that small and I personally think it’s better than the subway cars in terms of claustrophobia. The experience is cool in my opinion another way to view the city! Roosevelt island is pretty low key but the Panorama Room is a rooftop bar there above the graduate hotel and it’s one of my favorite views/rooftop bars 🥰
