Run HDD motor without ESC | uses 7805

Today I will show you how to make hard drive work continuously without ESC. I use WD hard drive, maybe this method doesn't work with every hard drive, but give it a try. :D
All my projects are free, I design it on EAGLE 6.0. I uploaded it to Google drive. You need to use a web browser to download the file and open the file with winrar software (extract) on the PC. Open schematic file (.SCH) and PCB file (.BRD) with EAGLE software. Hope you enjoy my videos and projects. Nice Work, but not all HDD will like this... I have manytimes to build this but not working on HDD died (not spinning when I give power on it) only work when your HDD spinning when you give the power from Powersupply (spinning and stop) before you try to do this.. to make running constantly you must conect sata conector like this video.. CMIIW, btw keep make about electro bro, especially Simple Inverter It's Very usefull for save the energy.. I fan you from Indonesia.

Simple, use two MOT (microwave oven transformers) in series or parallel. The 220V microwave are more power than the 110V versions.

yes, shorting the data line will "trick" the hard drive into reading data. However, I am not sure that all drives will work this way.

After two failed attempts and three different 7805's i have acheived a spinning HDD however regardless of jumping pins 2-6 or 3-5 my disc spins full speed then slows to almost a stop then refires and then slows and refires then slows to a stop... it will repeat this process if i disconnect and then reconect the power... any insight would be amazing... im a newbie but loved this project and was pleased i had all the parts on hand... Ceramic capacitors are much better for fast switching purposes than electrolyte caps. Maybe u try 10uF ceramic ones. I hope this helps.

Please don't try this out guys. It will be a total waste of your time. Harddisk spindle motors are Brushless DC (BLDC) motors. Unlike normal DC motors, BLDC motors will not run on a constant power supply.

HDD board have BLDC they can spin on their own(if not they will not work as hdd). But u need to power by SATA Power Supply with 12v for motor and 5v for controller. Also if they don't detect data read controller will spin motor down to save energy. This mod have 2 parts: 1) 7805 is a regulator capable to give 5V from 12v, so you can use any 12v power supply and dont need a SATA one(cap stabilizes the 5v). 2) Jumping RX and TX data lines, fakes the controller to think there is data transfer and keep motor running. Petty cheap way to make it work at full speed buying a BLDC Driver cost ore than the HDD motor. And making it diy es complicated and need dificult to get parts, 7805 is everywhere and CHEAP
