Hey man, I've just got home from work and then threw down a 21km workout which was 2x8km. Averaged roughly 3.36's, ( inc warm up, cool down and a recovery in the middle, I ran 81 ) PB is 73 only a couple of months ago.. Coming into Winter here in Australia. . This psychological and physiology thought process is real. I'm slowly starting to harness this and I'm 47 in September. People like yourself are key people in my running life and also people to be inspired about. Keep making videos Stephen and I'll keep watching.

Dragged my feet going out to do intervals as knew it was going to be hard. Maybe I could put it off till tomorrow. Then I heard your voice in my head "GET IT DONE!" And I did. Thanks For that...I am sure i will hear your soft Irish accent prodding me into action when next I lack a bit of motivation. You are a kick up the butt 👍🙏

Hi, I've been watching your videos for a minute now. Love they way you present your content and findings. Can you do a video for people with abnormally low VO2? I'm M, 47 161 lbs, in otherwise ok health but my VO2 is 29.5. Running is flat out HARD for me. I want to do it but I'm always hitting 180BPM and gassing out. Thanks!

Just try to help here At what pace did you run when you hit 180 BPM? If you are new to running it think it's quite normal if you having a hard time to maintain running. Most people recommend to mix run and walk (so that you can maintain your HR in zone 2-3 range). Probably doing it for 20-30 min every 2 days would be a great start. Hope it helps.

@@Adriansyah1995 Hi. Thanks for answering. On my treadmill I can quickly go to high BPH at 9kmph so like 5.6mph so like a 33min 5k pace. But it's not a conversational pace lol. Zone 2 for me is walking a little fast.
@Adriansyah1995
@Adriansyah1995 Жыл бұрын
@@TheUncleshady bruh 33km 5k is 6:36 min/km pace lol....my "easy runs" is at 8:50 min/km for maintaining 140-150 bpm.

@@Adriansyah1995 I think what's got me going too fast is that the c25k app seems to assume you'll be at 5k in around a half an hour of running. I did manage it a few times but I was more in the 45:00 zone. I guess I'll keep plugging away. Thanks
@Adriansyah1995

@@TheUncleshady yes that probably the "race pace" of yours. Build your base with loads of convesrsational pace then sprinkle that threshold and speed workout once a week and you"ll see improvement in long term. (most importantly avoiding injuries). Goodluck mate!

Hi Stephen. Which type of threshold workout reaps better benefits for 10K runners and 21K runners? Kindly provide your justification. 1) 2 X 5 KM at the threshold with 2-3 minutes passive rest? 2) 5 X 2 KM at the threshold with 90 seconds of passive rest?

Do an allergy test and see if that contribute also.. treadmill I’m sure can help and don’t let psychology throw you into panic breathing

Allergy test is great advice, also when I first started montelukast/singulair (leukotriene inhibitor), I woke up the next day and breathing just took less effort - I wondered if that's what it's like for everyone else to take a breath

@@SoupCannot I used montelukast a few years ago and honestly took the worst hit mentally that anything has ever given me, total and utter depression to a dangerous point. I stopped them and haven't tried again. Could have just been magnifying things I had going on at the time but I don't know for sure. Stay vigilant man and happy running 🙌🏼

Hi Stephen, how many times do you do the same session say 6 x 1K or 5 x 1 mile before you feel comfortable to add more reps or do you go by how your feeling. I started off my Hill workouts by doing 10 x 1 min, Now after 3 weeks I’m still doing 10 x 1 min but finding my pace increasing slowly but steadily each week as my body gets to grips with the workout. Would 2/3 workouts of the session be enough before you add extra k’s or miles to the workout ? 👍👍

Something I really need to work on. Just run the Manchester 10k and as usual my times jump from 8k. Overall happy with my finish time at this stage of my running but questions I keep asking myself, am I running too fast at the start, should I work on my endurance or should I train using the 2 x 4k + 1 x 2k method to be consistent. Great video as usual

Your beard is badass but you’re lucky to have a very handsome face; if I had that face, I’d be shaving. I think it’s actually easier to just do a quick shave every day in the shower rather than keeping the beard trimmed and groomed. That’s my vote if the only issue is aesthetics. That being said, beards do serve a purpose; they effectively mitigate damage from blows (there’s actual research), keep you warmer, and protect skin from sun.
