I believe that we have an internal compass that we have to listen to, and if we don't, we will fail. And failure looks like a lot of things, you don't have to be living on the street. You might have material wealth but absolutely hate what you're doing every day. The only true failure is forever denying that internal compass. It takes a long time to listen to if you're not fortunate to tap into it at a young age, but you _can_ find it. It requires stepping into the unknown with faith and thinking completely differently. If you're up for a huge, but life changing book that talks about this scientifically and spiritually, read The Matter With Things by Iain McGilchrist. He nails it. Changed my life.

Honestly I went through my twenties and thirties feeling that way. Finally in 2019 right after my 39th birthday I woke up and realized that I need to start living for myself. Ever since that day my life has just continued to get better and better and better 😊💯 🙌🙏💪

I’m turning 37 tomorrow…left my high paying corporate job 3 months ago to be at peace. I don’t know what my career looks like in the future but I’m so much more at peace now with my husband and kid at home. I can’t be a part of the rat race anymore.

I never cared what the next man or woman had. I always ran my own race, but what pissed me off is that I was helping others with their race all the while I had to do my own race alone. So yes, from now on, i am only focusing on my own race.

I never begrudge other people of their success, I say good for them! And I never compare my life to other peoples’ lives. I don’t want to be like other people, I want to be me, and I am going my own way. I have had the thought for a while now that all we need to do is BE, because human consciousness is the means by which the Universe bears witness to itself… that is our purpose. Also, pleased to hear you mention helping other people up, and being a mentor to other people - this isn't really discussed by anyone, but I think it is an important topic to explore and to action in our lives. A lot of the time we are too wrapped up in ourselves. Peace and blessings everyone.

When I was a young teenage girl, I would sometimes get sad because the other girls seemed so beautiful and I was the typical wallflower; my Mum sat me down one fine day and told me, that God created beautiful women and handsome men, for our enjoyment, they are gifts for us to enjoy visually. Mum told me that each person‘s gift, is for us to enjoy and be inspired by each other. Now, each time I see a beautiful lady, I enjoy her as I would a lovely flower or a beautiful piano concert etc.

That old quote "Comparison is the thief of life" is so true. The comparison business is so useless. I've also come to understand that many people I have envied and would like to have what they have, when examining closely their life, often have certain problems, that come with their lifestyle that I don't want. So you sometimes never see the real picture as to what really goes on in people's lives. Hence, it not as good as you think.

I am coming face to face with my mortality, it is harder than anything I faced in life, which is ironic, because I had a hard life, and I always thought I wanted to die, because it would be a welcome rest from the daily grind. But now that l am face to face with the end, I regret all the time I spent being miserable, I feel like this life was truly wasted potential. I had some good times, some bad times, but I let my ego get the best of me for so long I lived the life of a miserable, angry, victim. I was the victim of child abuse, victim of violent crime, victim of poverty, victim of addiction, victim of alcoholism, victim of sexual molestation, victim of racism, victim of diseases, victim of insurance companies, victim of friends, victim of relatives, victim of enemies. Now I realize that all I own is my actions, everything else is BORROWED.

Your comment feels so genuine to me. I've had a very hard life too, but I'm also trying to enjoy it as much as I can. Still, I have to admit almost every day I think about death. I have a plan for it. I feel like this life and my existence on Earth has been hell. Or rather this is the 4th or 5th circle of hell. The things I needed most I never got. The things I want most Idk how to give myself or create. That's probably the hardest thing for me is, I haven't given up. I just can't make certain things happen for myself. I don't have the power or control. I hope I'm not over stepping or misunderstanding what you've said. I'm sorry you're facing your mortality right now. I'm sorry you believe/know you wasted so much of your potential. I hope you have at least enough to do one or two things that bring you joy.

Although I have things I would do some things differently, becoming aware of my own death has allowed me to live more freely. I only wish I could've forgot my ego/self importance sooner. Once we are born we think we will live forever, so we take things for granted. That is why dead receive more flowers than the living, regret is stronger than gratitude. I do believe this world can be both heaven and hell, and we are as powerful as God but we mortals have an expiration date. We are born just like fresh milk, which can be made into butter, cheese or yogurt it will keep longer. if you don't put the work in, you'll spoil this gift you were granted. I have lost a lot of people recently, young people are dropping dead of cancer and heart attacks. Life expectancy in America is declining rapidly. The only population that will age gracefully will be the 1% I hope they choke on the pollution smoke, and suffer starvation when they realize they can't eat their stack of worthless paper, when nobody is left to harvest the crops, and they are too afraid of breaking a nail. lol

@@hammersaw3135, you're always welcome. According to doctors I was supposed to die at 1, then 5. I've had other experiences with being near death or death itself( my own and other people) Too many actually. I'm kind of afraid of how I'll die, but not death itself. You're also funny too! I agree that the rich deserve suffering for all the harm done and I believe it's coming. Of course, I have no idea when. I hope when it's time for you to finally leave this place.. it's glorious. Thank you for that very inspirational message, Tim. I really needed to hear that because I am feeling down about myself again and getting depressed. I fight those feelings but they come back. Man, this is such a wise and healthy way to look at life! I have always gravitated to these lines of the song "Everybody's Free (To Wear Sunscreen)": "Don't waste your time on jealousy, sometimes you're ahead, sometimes you're behind. The race is long, and in the end it's only with yourself." But yeah, I think you're right. There isn't even an ahead or behind. We're all on our own unique path, or should be at least. Thanks for the video's Tim, you're a source of inspiration for me.

I like the perspective that you can reprogram feelings or thoughts because they don't represent reality. Your reality is just how you perceive it so you can make it work for you. And I never understood comparison because there's so much inequality and randomness in life that it makes no sense :)

I was just talking to a coworker about what you said today, your example, not trying to be the vice president of sales because I don't want it... we were talking about how it's easy to let other people's perception of you and expectations of you get into your head, and then you have to think, is this really what I want to do, or just what other people want me to do? Words of a sage and of a really wealthy man. I understand perfectly what you have covered so eloquently. This video will be saved in one of my special files. Thank you Timothy. It is very refreshing to see someone who has inner peace. The majority of folks will "never get it". We can only lead by example and hopefully when someone who "is ready" they will say: "wow, I would love that inner peace, contentment and gratitude for blessings, that is priceless and that is true wealth. Nothing of the material realm is taken, it is only temporary and we are temporary guardians. It is all a state of being. 🙏

I want to add one thing to this. There should be one person you are racing with: yourself. Race with yourself to become a better version who had overcome all the traumas and left false believes behind. Why? Look for your videos to keep myself going and keep my attitude and emotions OK. Need my emotions to feel healed and be OK with living my own life among all these billions of people on the planet instead of thinking I have to be like them. How can l like you said because they all have different combination of traits? The answer is that I can't even though people like to think they have to be like everybody else. Thanks for this video. I don’t feel like I’ve been left behind at all I just want to be where I’ve always wanted to be I’ve worked so hard because I wanted my own house I want to leave an inheritance for my kids I’m not asking for much just what I’ve worked for where is 20 years worth of hard work where that’s my issue I don’t care what others have because that’s not what I want I should have a debt free house by now should be travelling and helping others
