The great thing about a heat pump is that it dehumidifies as it heats. Great for a camper.

One other thing about lifting the camper off in the garage. An idea….What if you did local raised area cutouts and then re-drywall those local areas in the ceiling like a raised box around the high points of the camper. It would be a big project but fairly cost effective. Plus you’re really handy! Of course I’m assuming you have attic space above the current ceiling.

Looks good! Once installed, you may want to consider mounting an inexpensive video camera on your ceiling in the area of the AC unit to monitor clearance when lifting the camper off of the truck.

At least you have a garage. lol, yup the original unit is very loud, Keith (owner of Northern Lite) should change the AC, put an outside entry into the belly of the camper. ??? I wait for your feedback on that one. ohhhhhhh, We did get a HEAVY, 2024, Lance 975, it should be here in a few months. As you know Lance has the Truma AC, very quiet and only suppose to draw 9.6 AMPS. Now I might have read that wrong. Great video guys!

Hey Bill, Congrats on the Lance 975! They are super nice campers and I'm sure you'll enjoy it. That's great it comes with a nice quite Truma AC. The Houghton we put on our NL is also a low amp unit so there's no need for a soft start. The Truma may be the same way being low amperage but I'm not sure. Take Care!

I love the heat strips and the extra BTU's, 13,500 should freeze you guys out. PLUS a remote. I hope my lance has a remote. I'm pretty sure it doesn't come with heat strips. Can't wait to see your post on your install. Great choice! Take care!

We have a solitude and we can’t use our ac in the bedroom because of how loud it is. At night we just run the front ac and it will freeze us out.

Very cool…. Or hot. Ha! Say no to wire nuts and yes to wago! :) I’m jealous you’re doing what want to do…replace that dometic! I will eventually on my NL. Just can’t lift it that high without help. One other thing…during cold camping….below freezing… need to run furnace because it heats the basement whereas the heat pump only will heat the cabin of the camper. I would forget knowing me. 😅
@horsetrader1991

It would be REALLY cold to HAVE to heat the basement but I'm sure Roses have thought of that.

I enjoy all your videos. Very informational. I was just wondering if you ever have any problems getting a site in an RV campground with a truck camper. I plan on buying an RV, but I would much rather have a truck camper versus a fifth wheel. I will appreciate any feedback from any truck camper owner.

Thanks for the nice comment. The only problem we have had getting into campgrounds with a truck camper have always been at "Resort" campgrounds. Some have allowed truck campers as long as they are not pop-up truck campers. Or they may allow truck campers, but they do not want them taken off the truck. But most of the time it hasn't been a problem. We just make sure we check before booking. Thanks for watching!

Two questions. 1. Any reason you didn’t go with a 12 V unit so you can run it off a battery directly off of solar etc? 2. How are you liking the northern light so far? I removed the original second question about airbags. I should’ve watched a whole video first duh.

I'm wondering if you can use a Cold Start low amp draw add ons with that unit? That would give you more options when wanting to use other appliances, like the microwave while the AC is running.

Can’t you fashion a large dolly on wheels then lower the camper onto that outside the garage, then just wheel it in!

Is your existing A/C broken, if not and you are changing this for the noise, you may consider keeping the existing A/C for a while. I have watched another KZbinr go to the Houghton but then later they experience problems with too much humidity.. You might want to wait and see if the Houghton keeps the humidity level low enough for you. How are you liking the new camper? Did you ever have a Bigfoot (sorry I haven’t watched all of your videos but I think I see one in your intro). Would love to know the pros and cons of the different campers you have had.
@RunawayRoses
@RunawayRoses Жыл бұрын
Thanks for the comment. Yes we have had a few Bigfoot campers and have enjoyed them. They make a great camper. We are also enjoying our Northern Lite with is our third Northern Lite. Both brands make a great camper. There are some differences between the two have pushed us toward the NL. Mainly the NL has a longer 80" bed and the Bigfoot only has a 74" bed. It's a loaded topic to compare the pros and cons of each but maybe we'll make a video about that someday. Thanks for watching!

@@RunawayRoses I should have asked is it a pretty standard installation, in other words there are no surprises? We have a 2024 Bigfoot, and the installed A/C unit is so noisy that it is a total distraction

There were no surprises on the install. It was basically the same as the install on our Northern Lite truck camper. You can look back at that video as a reference. It was well worth changing it out.
