Thank you for this video. I have been looking for a comparison video to help my brain justify spending that much on styrofoam. I am analytical (often pondering 😊) so the AC sound is more disruptive to my pondering along with the spontaneous hot flashes😂 than anything. I agree with you on such a small difference - It’s not worth it to spend the extra so I just ordered 2 KOOLRV. Since I have more time than money. I will add a little foam insulation on one side. The foam filling one area seems to be the biggest difference in two models. Insulation does help reduce sound and other things. Thanks again. Really great visual comparison you have here. Love it.

I have a 2020 Rockwood 2109s and wanted to either do the diy version, Koolrv or Airflow to increase the flow. I just inspected my unit which is a Coleman Mach 15 and apparently I can't do any of them. Rockwood, in their infinite wisdom ran the ac power and control wiring straight through the plenum and just below the air outlet. I was only able to tape off any holes and install a rigid foam bottom to the outlet section and discard the air dump baffle. A little better flow but not what I was hoping for.

I have both in my RV and for the money I would go KoolRV all day. Easier to install and the performance is so close. Plus the sound deadening is similar. For real sound reduction we just installed an RV air silencer by Wacko products in our bedroom and it cut the noise significantly!!!

I agree with the KoolRv being better for the money. My next purchase will ve the Wacko Silencer. Thanks for the feedback on that.

Really good review. I was pretty much set on the Kool RV product, but you put it over the top for me, for all the reasons you mentioned. Good data presentation, plus intuitively the KoolRV priduct should be better than the other priduct because it ducts the air directly into the ductwork. The competitor's pieces of foam directs the air "at" the ductwork. Thanks again.

@blueridgefamilyoutdoors6 ай бұрын
Good idea, however, often times rv manufactures install different ac units depending on availability. The best thing to do is find specifically what ac unit you own and match it up. You could also pull the interior cover off pretty easy and take a look to help verify if the item you are buying fits. KOOLRV would be glad to answer and questions you make have as well. Just my 2 cents I have installed the competition unit what a pain in the butt!, I had to unscrew the ac from the inside to get the foam in ended up stripping one of the bolts had to use a nut and bolt. Never again I will definitely use this product instead super simple install. And 1/2 the price. I don’t understand why you would need to close the quick cool as stated the more incoming flow the better, this being said once I get and install the product I may put a filter on the quick cool to see if it changes anything. It’s important that if you try this use a filter of some type you don’t want to suck dust into the system.
@blueridgefamilyoutdoors3 ай бұрын
I agree. This is much simpler to install than the RVAirFlow and cheaper. Thanks for the thoughts and feedback.

We have Coleman Mach Q acs in our rv. those acs have a more significant solid foam divider than most rv acs. Wokod there be any advantage to removing that (it is removable) and installing the kool rv instead to get better airflow because it dumps directly into the vents? our airflow is not horrible, just looking to be as efficient as possible in the SC heat!

I’m wondering , if you pause your video when you take off the plastic vent cover there is a gap that is outside the actual duct. I bet if you pre tape the duct entry you’ll gain even more flow

The KoolRV kit actually comes with tape designed specifically for taping those gaps. After installing, I taped all the gaps to ensure a good seal. Thanks for the comment

There's not that much heat loss happening in the hose section since the velocity is dramatically increased. It's minimal at best. We've camped in 100° extreme humidity and stayed cool inside the rv.

Does it not being insulated create much difference? But it’s hard to justify $170 for a block of styrofoam.
@blueridgefamilyoutdoors Жыл бұрын
Thanks for asking. Any insulating properties the foam may have is irrelevant to cooling performance. The magic is in the ability of each product to reduce turbulence at the plenum to ductwork transition. You can pay $170 or $75 to get the same result.

@thats_mr_b_ Жыл бұрын
I don’t think the play in the hoses are universal. I don’t think that is a Coleman AC which there are different types based on the air flow size. For my Coleman AC my cool RV hoses don’t reach the opening in the track. I had to replace them with dryer duct hoses to make reach. Good system when compared financially it takes the $175 airflow, down to 75 but I think it’s just as good as the $20 foamcore. Going to post my reviews soon. The word is def not out yet on this product

Was highly considering the KoolRv until I noticed these 2 issues from your video. 1 - you never actually showed the foam option. I think if you had, it would have weighed against your argument here. 2 - your data actually supported the foam product. I think that’s why you blew over it. Thank you for steering me to keep the current foam duct (competitor) I have in my system.
@blueridgefamilyoutdoors Жыл бұрын
Thanks for watching. The data supported that for less than half the price, you get a very comparable product. The (competitor) was installed in my rv from the factory, so it doesn't make sense to remove it and install something that does the exact same thing. I wouldn't expect anyone in their sane mind to remove the foam to install the KOOLRV. This content is geared more toward someone who has neither product. Thanks for the comment, though.
