Your most welcome. It’s super annoying that it’s on by default. Enjoy the less cluttered screens.

I was able to do this to disable the OSD overlay. Now i'm trying to put it back since I'm moving the camera to a setup that has no FC. However, I cannot access the OSD menu anymore. Holding the up button does not do anything.

That’s good, it tells me the cameras are fine. Something is wrong with your remote or the wiring with it.

is there a reason why the foxeer pad won't control this camera? Its basically the exact same layout... for some reason the menu doesn't come up when using it even if I switch the pins
@breaksteel2 жыл бұрын
I’m not sure exactly how this works on a board level. If I had to guess I’d say it’s bridging the pads but only briefly similar to a PWM signal. Board sees the pulses and reacts accordingly. Two different brands use two different signals? My guess is as good as yours.
@glytch52 жыл бұрын
@@breaksteel I see what happened. I am used to foxeer and I bought this JB runcam that ships out of the box in "uart control" I didn't realize you had to start the camera with the pins shorted and then re start kinda like in your video to get the pad to work. I thought that was just for removing the OSD! The pad does work from foxeer
@breaksteel2 жыл бұрын
Ah I forgot you can control those remotely using a uart. Usually just set them after a build and then never adjust them after. That and uarts always being in short supply. Happy it’s working for you now. Enjoy it!

You need the Runcam remote and then watch this video but turn the OSD on instead of off.

I have the Runcam Oscar camera and I want to have the Betaflight OSD and Smart Audio in the goggles to display things like GPS and other things about the flight and be able to change the drones settings without Betaflight. Could I do this?
@breaksteel4 жыл бұрын
You can do all that, but have to set the OSD in Betaflight. Once it’s set up then your good to go.

So there is no way to turn off the camera osd without the little key pad you have there
@breaksteel4 жыл бұрын
I am not aware of a way to do it without the keypad besides UART control. With UART control you’d need to install a Control Adapter board. This board mounts between the camera and a spare UART. Not the most elegant solution.

They used to come with the cameras, guess they have been shipping without them these past couple months. You can search EBay for “Runcam Keyboard” or you can buy them direct from Runcam here shop.runcam.com/runcam-key-board/ or you can get them from GetFPV here www.getfpv.com/runcam-key-board.html

I’m not familiar with the Foxxer Micro. If the remote buttons aren’t working grab or borrow another set. Beyond this there may be a way to use OSD and transmitter.

You might be in UART control mode. In order to use the joystick power the camera then short the two camera control pins. Once you’ve shorted the pins connect the joystick and you then can adjust OSD as shown in this video.

I have UART control activated but I also want smart audio. Problem is you can only have one or the other unless someone knows a way to run both peripherals if so please share. So when I need to change something on my fpv camera I just disable smart audio on the ports tab and then configure my fpv camera and then disable the UART ctrl on the ports tab and enable SA on the other UART my smart audio is on. By the way to get your runcam to change from joystick ctrl to UART ctrl you have to short the rx and tx pins of your runcam and then power it on which will change it from joystick ctrl over to UART ctrl and then when you remove power it will be saved as UART ctrl. Then unshort the rx and tx pins and wire them to a free UART on your FC. The way to enter the runcam menu via UART ctrl you need to raise your throttle halfway and yaw right which will act as the enter button on the joystick board. Your pitch/roll stick is how to navigate through the menu. I wanted to figure out how to get rid of the runcam osd which is how I found your channel and video. Thanks for sharing.
@breaksteel5 жыл бұрын
It sounds as if it would be easier to hook up the camera remote than to change all your settings and then change them back. You might want to look into a “Runcam Control Adaptor”. As long as you can spare an entire UART and have space for a tiny chip. This chip should allow you to control the camera and have Smart Audio working at the same time. Happy I was able to help you with this video!
